UBS Group Human Resources' (HR) responsibilities include coordinating the recruitment, training and development, and compensation of staff throughout the Bank, as well as developing and implementing HR strategy, policy and standards.
Roles
Your role within HR depends on what position is available and could include any of the following opportunities.
You could be involved in early career development initiatives for UBS. You may conduct research into client needs and best practice and then contribute to the design, implementation and marketing of these development initiatives in your region. In addition you would organize and facilitate workshops, networking events etc. Alternatively, you could be coordinating the selection of candidates for assignments abroad, acting as the main contact for selected candidates and their line managers, as well as facilitating their integration.
Finally, you could be involved in graduate recruitment, recruiting recent university graduates or interns, selecting CV's, conducting interviews and placing the candidates within UBS departments. In addition you would supervise the assessment process and represent UBS at university events, presentations and workshops. You would also be involved in a variety of marketing initiatives.

You could also find yourself helping to brief line managers and carrying out follow-ups after events.
What you need to succeed
You will have good interpersonal skills and an understanding of business. Some knowledge of human resources would also be an advantage. You will be at university or college, preferably studying a degree in business administration or social sciences. A good command of English and German is also very useful.

Human resource specialists provide the link between managers and employees within a company. This is a broad field, but each job involves working frequently with people and serving as a go-between for management and employees. Work Environment
Most HR employees work in a comfortable office setting, and the workload is generally a normal 35-40 hours a week. Some HR employees, such as
recruiters, do travel extensively, however. Outlook and Trends
The job market in this area is competitive even though the number of job openings is high, due to the large number of qualified graduates and experienced workers coming into the field. The job market is growing as most industries employ HR specialists. Earnings According to a 1996 salary survey conducted by the National Association of Colleges and Employers, the average entry-level salary for someone with a bachelor's degree was $25,300; for those with master's degrees, the starting salary was $39,900. For Federal Government employees, those with bachelor's earned $19,500, those with master's earned $29,600, and those with doctorates may start at $35,800.
