It is marked not only by number (4695) but also by animal. According to Chinese legend, Buddha invited all the creatures in his kingdom to appear before him. The 12 animals who completed the journey the rat, ox, tiger, hare, dragon, serpent, horse, sheep, monkey, cock, dog and pig were each honored for their presence with rotating names of the year: 1997 is the Year of the Ox; 2000 will be the Year of the Dragon. People prepare for the holiday by cleaning their homes, paying their debts, buying new clothing and cooking enormous feasts. Many individuals spiritually and physically sweep away all traces of bad luck from the previous year.

~Celebration begins on February 1st, 2003 - 2nd new moon after Winter Solstice~
Happy New Year from Annie's Home Page "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach
the gospel to every creature."
~Mark 16:15~ As Christians we should never forget the "Great Commission" that Jesus gave us. We are
to "go into ALL the world" and share the Gospel with "everyone". We are not to be
ashamed. We are to be obedient and faithful. The Lord will arrange the divine
appointments for you. You just need to be willing to follow. The Lord doesn't burden every Christian to go into the Mission field or to become a
Preacher or Pastor. However, the Lord does use every willing heart to spread the "Good
News" that we find in the Gospels . Have you checked your heart lately? Take this opportunity to search your heart and seek the Lord. Ask Him what HE wants you to do with your life. I don't know about you but I remember thinking that IF I let the Lord have control of my life He would send me to the middle of no where as a missionary and either I would never get married or it would be to someone that I wouldn't want to marry. Silly isn't it. It is so much easier for us to trust our own "instincts" or "feelings"

Celebrating the Chinese New Year at Home
I like close games with spectacular individual plays and dazzling teamwork, but my daughter clearly wanted a good guys/bad guys scenario By Terry Lowenstein
Article availablethrough Feb. 28, 2003 If your children were too little to stay up for the traditional New Year, you may want to plan a special party celebrating the Chinese New Year, a celebration sure to please all ages. This year the Chinese New Year falls on Feb. 1. It will be the year of the ram. The History Behind the Holiday The Spring Festival is the oldest and most important festival in China, celebrating the earth coming back to life. It is a day filled with special events, foods, and festivities. We know this celebration by its more common name, Chinese New Year. In China, the remaining few days of the last moon are spent getting ready for the festival. First, houses are cleaned and new clothes are bought. (By the way, if you need a haircut, it is done before the festival.) It is also considered good luck to repay debts before the festival begins. Doors are decorated, and in many homes incense is burned.
