CorelDRAW 8 in 24 Hours
Hour 18
Printing
In the hours that you put into learning CorelDRAW, you learned to create some complex illustrations. How do you share those graphic images with the world? You can print them or you can display them onscreen, for example, in a web site. In this hour, you learn to print your CorelDRAW illustrations. You learn to move your CorelDRAW 8 objects into a web page in the next hour in this book. Printing can be easy or complex. If you print your CorelDRAW illustrations with your own laser printer, the process is basically governed by Windows 95 (or Windows NT). This is true for both color and black-and-white printing. If you've looked at the displays at your local copy shop, you've seen some spectacular color printer output, including full-color posters with near- photographic quality. CorelDRAW also comes with a full set of printer options that make it easy to print business cards, labels, and other odd-sized output. You learn to print cards and labels in this hour. Where things get tricky is when you want to translate your CorelDRAW illustration into a mass-produced printed publication. That requires bringing something, a file or printed layout, to your printer. You learn to manage that process in this hour as well.

http://magma.nationalgeographic.com/ngexplorer/0209/teachers/faqs.html
As a teacher, you answer questions all day. So, for a change, we thought we'd answer some of your questions.
Q. What is National Geographic Explorer?
A. National Geographic Explorer (formerly known as National Geographic for Kids ) is a classroom magazine for grades three through six. Each 24-page issue explores curriculum-based topics in science and social studies.
Q. How often is National Geographic Explorer published?
A. There are six issues for each school year: September, October, November-December, January-February, March, and April-May. We developed this schedule after extensive discussions with teachers.
Q. How might I use National Geographic Explorer in my classroom?
A. The magazine provides engaging, standards-based material that can help you teach three core subjects: nonfiction literacy, science, and social studies. Each issue comes with an eight-page teacher's guide containing background information, discussion questions, additional resources, reproducible worksheets, and a planning grid.

    by Mark Joyner
A good friend of mine, Joe Vitale (a man known by many as the "greatest copywriter in America"), has a genius method for teaching people to write killer ads - almost instantly In fact, years ago I saw a 45 minute video of Joe teaching that literally changed my life. In it, he made the "mysterious" topic of writing killer ads so simple... It was perhaps the most significant piece of my marketing education (truly) - and I've read just about every advertising and marketing book out there. I'll show you how to view the video in a minute (you can view it right in your browser), and you'll see why it inspired me so much. Before we get there, let's take a little quiz. In each of these questions lies a powerful insight that will allow you to drastically increase the effectiveness of your advertising.

Teaching Guide Introduction ... Additional Resources INTRODUCTION Who's going to teach our class? Your teacher is in big trouble! She's being accused of using unorthadox teaching methods. Members of the Board of Education are so upset, they want to fire her. However, the "show" must go on. So, who's going to teach the poetry unit? YOU ARE back to the top
TASK Your task, as a group, is to research a particular style/form of poetry or a literary device and present a lesson to the class. You will create a lesson plan, an activity, a quiz, and a visual display of your lesson. Later, you will combine what you have learned from all of the lessons and create a poetry book. At the end of this unit you will be able to: distinguish between different styles and forms of poetry.
    create original works of poety.
demonstrate mastery of various types of literary devices.
    create a basic lesson plan.
use technology in order to collaborate with peers, experts and others.
develop products for audiences inside and outside of the classroom.

SQL Server Login and User Security
    • The SQL Server Security Access Model
Yesterday you learned how to create tables and how SQL Server datatypes are used. You also learned how to create your own datatypes. When you were creating those tables, SQL Server authenticated your connection and user access to a database. Today you examine how that authentication works, starting with Windows NT and working your way down to the database level. You see that Windows NT and SQL Server login security, as well as user accounts, protect your server and database from unauthorized connections.
The SQL Server Security Access Model
Connecting to SQL Server 6.5 has so far been a relatively straightforward thing to do. You've been using SQL Server Standard security , logging in with the SA login. As you connect, a number of things are happening that may not be obvious. By default there are three different places that security is checked as you attempt to connect from a client program to SQL Server (see Figure 6.1). You may be validated by Windows NT, SQL Server itself (in the form of a login ), and then at the individual database level.

E-mail: cpcoak@slip.net In this paper we discuss how authoring software can be used to teach functional reading to individuals of any age. Due to its limited length, this paper will provide less depth and scope than our CSUN presentation. Following are the areas of functional reading we discuss in this paper: community signs, store names and products, product information, comparison and direction words, and reading directions. At the conference we also discuss how to teach functional reading and related skills in the areas of money identification and counting, maps, calendars, telling time, alphabetizing, using a TV and movie guide, reading schedules, job applications and weather maps, and reading and understanding control functions of a microwave, washer/dryer and electronic equipment. Additionally, we discuss computer access methods and sources for acquiring graphic material and digital images. Our primary purpose is to generate ideas for creating activities with demonstrations of making the activity as time permits. We assume the reader has a working knowledge of the authoring software we discuss below and the additional applications we discuss at the conference.

Course Tools are the most complex part of a Course Outline . They provide extra functionality for your course, such as a discussion forum or a lecture plan. Once you have finished entering the Course Details , you should move on to the tools. Not every course needs every tool. You may be content simply to have a lecture plan, or a single Frequently Asked Question List, or even to have no tools at all. Course Tools are created from two places, the Course Outline Menu, and the Workspace. From the Course outline you can setup a calendar, announcement, or disucssion forum, while from the workspace you can add FAQ's, Lecture Plans, Quizzes, or Workbins. (You can also add announcements from the Workspace as well as the Course Outline). The two images below show these two menus. Workspace Toolbar Course Outline Toolbar Each of the Course Tools has its own section of the User Guide.
    About the Course Tools
Course Calendar A course calendar is designed to display important events pertaining to your course. Events can be assignment due, when you can see students, leave, cancelled lectures, etc. The main aim is to inform and allow the students to schedule their and your time for your course.
