An Exciting Time In Dentistry Our Philosophy Headaches BriteSmile ... Laser Dentistry Modern dentistry has so much to offer. We know that going to the dentist is something that most people know is important and necessary, but don't look forward to. We understand our patients' reluctance and anxieties. After all, we are also patients. By taking time to get to know you, addressing your concerns, and explaining the nature of the treatment to be provided, we can do much to make your visits with us as comfortable as possible. It is our goal to make this practice a special place. We promise:
  • To be technically excellent. To provide care in a gentle, considerate manner. To involve our patients in treatment decisions and in understanding the nature of dental health. To be available to our patients whenever there is a problem. Not to bully or lecture, but to explain and teach.
We enjoy long-term relationships with our patients. We are not simply solving isolated problems, but sharing a responsibility for lifelong care and the promotion of dental health.

General Practice Residency
The College of Dentistry operates a hospital dentistry clinical service at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. The service includes divisions of oral and maxillofacial surgery, general dentistry, and orthodontics and interacts with the College's specialties of orthodontics, pedodontics, periodontics, endodontics, oral and maxillofacial pathology, oral and maxillofacial radiology, and prosthodontics. A one-year general practice residency is offered by the hospital general dentistry program. Residency Program
The aim of the in general practice residency program is to prepare dentists for a broader scope of private practice in general dentistry. The program combines clinical and didactic training on an individual basis and meets fundamental requirements of the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association. The residency covers one year of hospital-based training. Through postdoctoral clinical, didactic, and hospital experience, residents prepare to meet the oral health needs of a wide range of ambulatory and nonambulatory patients. Residency training includes using hospital resources and managing ambulatory patients, inpatients, same day surgery patients, and emergency medical and dental patients. Residents participate in consultations with other hospital services and are assigned to appropriate hospital services to fulfill the objectives of the training program. They are appointed to the house staff of the hospital and have the same privileges and responsibilities as residents in other professional education programs.
