Course Director of Primary Programs at Strathclyde University Welcome Canadians!! I have been coming over to Toronto for the past eight years to select students for the primary programme and look forward to the experience of meeting new people and reuniting with past students. I have the responsibility for the selection of students, for School Experience and the Maths Module on the course. I know that this year in Scotland is an exciting experience for Canadian students and that this prestigious course equips them really well for their future teaching careers. The University of Strathclyde was founded in 1796 as Anderson's Institution. In 1964, the University was granted Royal Charter and, with the merger of the former Jordanhill College of Education in 1993, now has two campuses - the John Anderson Campus in downtown Glasgow and the Jordanhill Campus in the west end of the city. Strathclyde is Scotland's third largest university with a population of 13,000 students - a population which includes representation from over 90 countries. It has gained a reputation as Scotland's most dynamic and innovative university, with a proven record of excellence in teaching. Sunday School classes for all ages meet at 9:30 AM. Nursery services are provided.
  • Awana
The acrostic AWANA stands for "Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed". Awana Clubs is a very exciting program for children age 3 through 6th grade. The clubs meet every Wednesday night from 7-8:30 pm beginning in the end of September through the middle of May. Awana Clubs are brimming with life-enriching experiences for young people! Trained leaders guide children through age appropriate material. Clubbers learn that God is real, that He loves them, and that He has expressed that love through Jesus Christ. They also learn how to apply the truths of the Bible to their daily lives. In a world desperate for high standards of morality and ethics, Awana uses the Bible to teach children to honor God and their fellow human beings. Each club meeting includes three segments providing start-to-finish adventure. A high energy game time featuring individual and team competition unleashes kids' natural energy and enthusiasm. Handbook time uses achievement-oriented curriculum materials to emphasize memorization of God's Word. The last segment is council time. The whole club gathers together for a Bible message, singing, and announcements. Each club night ends with an awards ceremony. Bring along a first-time visitor for a trip to the "Mystery Chest"! This February will be our 5th Annual Pine-wood Derby Car Grand Prix. You will not want to miss all the excitement.

Leaves of Learning 2002/2003 Program
Founded 6 years ago by a local home schooling mom, Leaves of Learning (LOL) offers a wide variety of classes to students ages 5-18. LOL hires experienced, motivated teachers who love what they teach, teach in a hands-on fashion, and respect and love their kids. They are not a co-op in the sense that parents do not need to stay while their child attends classes. However, because the class fees do not cover all costs, each family is required to take on a tuition reduction job or pay an extra fee. The program runs from September 23 to May 16. Class size is limited to small groups; enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis, with existing families getting first chance to reenroll. The facility is in Loveland. You may choose as many or as few classes per day, depending on your family's needs. However, many Tuesday/Thursday require attendance on both days. To receive an information packet : Call Leaves of Learning at and leave your name and address. You will recieve a packet that explains in complete detail their classes, teachers, philosophy, fees, dates, etc. A New Family Open House will be held over the summer; parents are invited to tour the facility, meet some of the teachers and ask questions.

Designed for students who wish to investigate various disciplines across the spectrum of the arts, the Arts Interdisciplinary major emphasizes the study of the history, theory, and criticism of the arts in the School's various departments and their relation to other disciplines. Prior approval is required before entry into the program. Arts and Humanities
The major in Arts and Humanities provides students with a broad exposure to a range of disciplinary and methodological opportunities in the arts and humanities. It insists on the productive intersection of these two fields as the focus of each student's program. Students improve their critical and historical sophistication while learning about the process of performance and creative work, a combination that will equip them to participate more effectively in a society that increasingly joins critique and creation just as closely as it fuses image and information. Program Description
The Department of Drama/Dance provides a lively theatre production environment and academic program that is positive, supportive and rigorous in its expectations of graduate students. The goal of the professional training at an advanced level is to prepare the student artist for a career in the professional theatre or theatre education. Graduate students are given opportunities to teach in labs, shops, studios and in the classroom because we recognize that teaching one's art has become an integral, beneficial and often necessary part of the professional artist's career. Teaching also further develops the students' understanding of their own craft and theory.
