    The United Nations General Assembly, in its Resolution 55/199 of 20 December 2000, called world leaders to a Summit to undertake a ten-year review of the progress of the implementation of Agenda 21 and to reinvigorate the global commitment to sustainable development agreed at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) held in Rio de Janeiro in 1992. In the same Resolution, the General Assembly stressed the importance of preparations for the Summit to be carried out at the local, national, regional and international levels by Governments and the United Nations system in order to insure high-quality inputs to the review process.

In the winter: All ski runs of the Furtschellas/Corvatsch Ski Resort are close to the hotel. In the evening you can ski right up to the front door of the hotel. You can ski and snowboard in five big resorts, all within 30 minutes. There are many cross country ski routes, including skiing on the lakes! The projects which are submitted are expected to be prepared utilizing scientific methods and taking into account actual situations.     A step in the right direction regarding Sellafield
    The British Government is now considering whether it would be possible to impose a moratorium on the discharges of technetium-99 from Sellafield whilst research on cleaning methods is being carried out. However, the final decision on this will be taken after the case is completely reviewed, in approximately 3 months. This was announced by the British Minister of Environment, Michael Meacher, during a press conference in London earlier today. (11.12.02)
