Epileptic seizures happen in small areas of the brain
Music, particularly Mozart, could have a therapeutic effect on epilepsy, say scientists. Short bursts of Mozart's Sonata K448 have been found to decrease epileptic attacks.
Listening to Mozart could just hold some hope in the treatment of epilepsy
Professor John Jenkins, University of London There are now calls for more research to be done to see whether other music has such a positive effect on the brain. Professor John Jenkins, who has reviewed the international research on music therapy, said it was very probable that work by other musicians could also trigger the "Mozart Effect." He told the BBC that Mozart and also Bach have similar structures. Patients who had been exposed to 10 minutes of the music were then tested and just 10 minutes exposure improved their spatial skills, such as paper cutting and folding. Studies on rats showed that those that had listened to the K448 sonata were able to negotiate a maze faster than those that had been played minimalist music or left in silence.

Feline Seizures and Epilepsy
The intent of this page is to provide information for people whose cats have had seizures. Seizures are a serious problem, and a cat that has had a seizure should be taken to a veterinarian for proper diagnosis. A proper diagnosis may be expensive and may take some time, but there is usually an underlying cause that can be eliminated or appropriate treatment that can be prescribed. The information in this page is not meant to substitute for a veterinarian's advice, but to aid those who are trying to learn more about their cat's illness and to encourage owners of cats that have had seizures to have their cat's illness diagnosed as quickly as possible. More clinical information is available through the references at the bottom of this article.
What is Epilepsy?
It is important to understand the difference between epilepsy and seizures. Seizures, which range from unusual mood swings to uncontrollable thrashing and loss of body control, are symptoms of a disease. Causes of seizures include infections, tumors, toxic chemicals, and epilepsy. Most seizures in cats have a cause other than epilepsy. It's most useful to think of epilepsy as a word for seizures for which no other cause has been found. You will sometimes see epilepsy divided into idiopathic, or primary, epilepsy; and symptomatic, or secondary, epilepsy. Idiopathic epilepsy is the term used for seizures that appear to have no other cause. Symptomatic epilepsy refers to seizures caused by an underlying condition.

National epilepsy Association of Aust Inc. FAQ.
http://www.nevdgp.org.au/geninf/epilepsyf/WOMEN_EPILEPSY.htm
Epilepsy Foundation of Victoria Inc. WOMEN AND EPILEPSY Women with epilepsy have many questions about epilepsy and their own health, pregnancy, and the well being of their future children. The following will help to provide general information and make it easier to ask questions when visiting your family doctor, neurologist, gynaecologist or obstetrician. Epilepsy at the time of menstruation is known as catamenial epilepsy. For some women seizure frequency may increase at the time of menstruation and, in others, seizures occur only at this time. The reason is uncertain, but it is thought that changes in hormone levels and anti-epileptic medication levels, fluid retention and possibly pre-menstrual tension may be the cause. Keeping a record of seizures may help identify a relationship between seizure frequency and menstruation and assist your doctor in formulating a suitable treatment plan. ORAL CONTRACEPTIVE PILL There is no evidence to suggest that the contraceptive pill can influence epilepsy in any way, either reducing or increasing seizure frequency. Generally, the main concern women with epilepsy have is the effectiveness of oral contraception in preventing conception. Some medications for epilepsy can reduce the effectiveness of the pill, leading to possible 'pill failure' and pregnancy. Breakthrough bleeding may also occur. These problems may be overcome by using a higher dose pill.
