The 24 "Canoe Plants" of Ancient Hawaii
Interested in the plants of Hawaii? This site presents a general guide to the plants that were carried throughout the Hawaiian Islands by early Polynesian voyagers in their canoes. Some basic information is provided about each plant along with a sketch/picture when available. Also included are Medicinal Hawaiian Plants, though this area of the site takes a while to load. Very interesting!

45. Family Advocacy Parent Education
FAP manager and ask about their parent education programs and resources New parentSupport Program; Joint New parent Support Program (only available in hawaii);
http://trol.redstone.army.mil/acs/virtual2/famad_perm.html
INTRODUCTION: The Army Family Advocacy Program coordinates and provides numerous programs, services and activities that support our families. Their goal is to develop parenting skills and knowledge, reduce stressors that may increase the risk of child abuse or neglect. And help families cope with the adjustments, changes of military life. PARENT EDUCATION LEVELS. As we know, parents have a wide range of skills, knowledge, abilities and resources to meet the demands and joys of parenting. Our programs must meet the diverse needs of the military families; therefore, they must be innovative and have a wide range of support programs. Remember no ONE program fits all parents. WHY DO WE NEED PARENT EDUCATION AND SUPPORT PROGRAMS? We may often hear the complaint, "What happened to good old-fashioned parents and families who know the right thing to do and did it?" This is not an uncommon question for people who work in prevention and intervention for child and spouse abuse. In both military and civilian communities there exists a certain amount of impatience and frustration with the need for so much time and resources expended on "problem" families. Going back to the previous question, the reply is that we are in a different time zone than our parents and time has changed. Now, we have young families without "old fashioned" parenting skills, resources and support networks; therefore, they need the extra supportive programs. SOCIAL CHANGES.
