The Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) Outreach Training Program is a voluntary training program through which OSHA authorizes trainers to teach construction and general industry occupational safety and health standards. OSHA has promoted workplace safety and health by authorizing trainers since 1971. The outreach program has grown rapidly in recent years. As recently as 1990 only 12,000 student cards were issued. In 1998, more than 150,000 student cards were distributed and over 8,700 classes were held an average of nearly 170 classes per week! On any day, there are about 1,300 workers attending OSHA outreach training. 10-Hour Training Requirements

To Netnews Homepage Previous Next Index ... Table of Contents Telepathy and the Etheric Vehicle - The Basis of Non-Separateness Students have been apt to speak simply of the etheric body as an entire integral entity and as constituted solely of etheric substance, forgetting that the etheric body is the medium for the transfer of many types of energy. They forget the following facts: [151]
  • That the etheric body is itself composed of four types of substance, each of which is definitely specialized and found on one or other of the etheric levels. That these substances, functioning actively in any particular etheric body, create a network of channels; they produce fine tubes (if I may use so inappropriate a word) which take the general form of the dense material or tangible form with which they may be associated. This form underlies every part of the physical body and can be seen extending for a certain distance outside of the recognizable form. This etheric body is not in reality an ovoid (as the older occult books teach) but usually takes the form or general outline of the physical vehicle with which it is associated. When, however, the head center is awakened and functioning, then the ovoid appearance is far more frequent. These channels or tubes - according to the type of energy they carry - pass to certain areas of the body, via three main stations:

INTRODUCTION Medical education at Brown is characterized by its breadth, flexibility, and opportunities for personal enrichment and advanced scholarship. Brown Medical School awards approximately 80 Doctor of Medicine degrees each year. Most of the basic sciences are taught on the University campus while most clinical teaching is hospital-based or community-based. Clinical department chairpersons are based either on campus or in one of the affiliated teaching hospitals. Brown is different from most medical schools in that the majority of openings for the first year class are reserved for students who are enrolled in the eight year continuum leading to both the Bachelor's degree and the M.D. degree. This continuum is called the Program in Liberal Medical Education or PLME . The remaining places in the class are reserved for students applying to the M.D./Ph.D. Program

These General Water Safety Tips will help you stay safe in, on, and around the water! Check out our additional safety tips below for specialized aquatic activities.
    General Water Safety Tips
    • Learn to swim. The best thing anyone can do to stay safe in and around the water is to learn to swim. Always swim with a buddy; never swim alone. The American Red Cross has swimming courses for people of any age and swimming ability. To enroll in a swim course, contact your local Red Cross chapter.
    • Swim in supervised areas only.
    • Obey all rules and posted signs.
    • Watch out for the "dangerous too's"too tired, too cold, too far from safety, too much sun, too much strenuous activity.
    • Don’t mix alcohol and swimming. Alcohol impairs your judgement, balance, and coordination, affects your swimming and diving skills, and reduces your body's ability to stay warm.
    • Pay attention to local weather conditions and forecasts. Stop swimming at the first indication of bad weather.
    • Know how to prevent, recognize, and respond to emergencies.

    • Adolescents and young adults, both male and female, benefit from physical activity.
    • Physical activity need not be strenuous to be beneficial.
    • Moderate amounts of daily physical activity are recommended for people of all ages. This amount can be obtained in longer sessions of moderately intense activities, such as brisk walking for 30 minutes, or in shorter sessions of more intense activities, such as jogging or playing basketball for 15-20 minutes.
    • Greater amounts of physical activity are even more beneficial, up to a point. Excessive amounts of physical activity can lead to injuries, menstrual abnormalities, and bone weakening.

Education Abroad Home Introduction What's New Awards and Honors ... FAQs The fall of Cold War ushered in a new age in world history, an age that is marked by the rise of regional trading blocs and advanced technology. We are now in an era known to many as, Globalization. Thomas Friedman addresses this change in his book, The Lexus and Olive Tree
"Globalization has its own defining technologies: computerization, miniaturization, digitization, satellite communications, fiber optics and the Internet. And these technologies helped to create the defining perspective of globalization. If the defining perspective of the Cold War world was "division," the defining perspective of globalization is "integration." The symbol of the Cold War system was a wall, which divided everyone. The symbol of the globalization system is a World Wide Web, which unites everyone. The defining document of the Cold War system was "The Treaty." The defining document of the globalization system is "The Deal."

Additionally, the Unit offers a short course on Presentation Skills aimed at giving postgraduates some guidance on how to be effective when giving short formal inputs into any of the above teaching situations. Most of the training is organised in the Autumn and Spring Terms. Training is delivered in one of two ways a If a School has more than eight postgraduates who need training, the Unit will provide a specific tailored programme of training for that group of students. This tailored course can include some or all of the above elements as appropriate, and would normally be either a half-day or full day depending on what is included. Tailored courses are organised directly with the School, usually with a named individual; if you need to know who the co-ordinator is in your School please contact Ann Morton (ext. 3295) who will be able to help you.
