Up North - Canadian Hockey Card Magazine
Starting in January 1991, Up North Productions published a small-circulation Canadian hockey card magazine called Up North Over the course of five years, thirty-six different issues were produced. Up North started off as a price guide for baseball and hockey cards. After the first year (four issues, 8-1/2"x11"), Up North changed its size (7"x8-1/2") and focus. Starting with the seventh issue (May/June 1992), Up North covered hockey only and as of the eleventh issue (Spring 1993) the price guide featured pricing for oddball, food and sticker hockey sets as opposed to mainstream sets. Up North changed its size one last time with the 13th issue (Autumn 1993, 5-1/2"x8-1/2") and went monthly with the 15th issue (February 1994).

Digital signal processing and the two related fields of communications and digital logic systems are areas that Peter proposes to study while working towards a doctorate in electrical engineering at Stan-ford University in the fall. He ranked number one in his engineering class at Duke University and performed independent study in speech coding.
    Realizing that theoretical signal-coding
algorithms are worthless without an understanding of hardware implementation, he plans further studies in computer architecture. Coupling his involvement in teaching and research to industry, Peter hopes to act as an advisor or consultant to burgeoning communication-technology companies. He has enjoyed his employment at a small internet start-up company, where he worked independently to adapt different programming languages and protocols. He was team captain and manager for several intramural sports and contributed to the community through participation as a resident of Maxwell House. A teaching assistant, he was elected to Tau Beta Pi and Phi Beta Kappa.

Hi everyone. My name is Ron Snyder, and I have been principal of AS#1 since 1989. I also drive a school bus for field trips, and I teach classes in reading, grant writing, wilderness survival, canoeing, sailing, rock climbing, and the eighth grade Rite of Passage. Where I Come From I was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on February 25, 1946. Most of my relatives are from Toronto, Canada. My parents, Lillian and Phillip, valued education, independence, and totally applauded my adventurous spirit. They were experiential teachers, as are many of you. My parents believed in doing things, everything, with their children. When I was a Boy Scout working on my Eagle rank, I first experienced the thrill of adventure education. It was so seductive that it was far more important for me than the linear process they were using at the magnet science high school I attended. In my six years at junior high and Northeast High School, there was not one single field trip. I was bored beyond description.
