MINUTES EXECUTIVE SESSION Indiana Code 5-14-1.5-6(b) 3 The board met in session on June 17, 2002, at 7:00 p.m. to receive information about, and interview, prospective employees. Those present: Ron Felger, Don Harter, Donna Duff, Jim Geller, and Paul Sloffer. Also present: Dr. Steve Yager, Dr. Gloria Shamanoff, Niles Pfafman, Bill Mallers, Howard Schortgen, and John Hilger. The undersigned certify that no other business was discussed. REGULAR MEETING The Northwest Allen County Board of School Trustees met in regular session on Tuesday June 17, 2002, at the Central Office Board Room immediately following the Executive Session. Members present: Donna Duff, Ronald Felger, Donald Harter, James Geller and Paul Sloffer. Also present: Dr. Steve Yager, Dr. Gloria Shamanoff, Niles Pfafman, Bill Mallers, Becky McGuire, principals, staff, parents, patrons, students, and reporters. MINUTES The Northwest Allen County Board of School Trustees met in regular session, on Monday, November 4, 2002, in the Central Office Board Room. Members present: Paul Sloffer, Ronald Felger, John Hilger, and Howard (Nick) Schortgen. Also present: Dr. Steve Yager, Dr. Gloria Shamanoff, Niles Pfafman, Becky McGuire, staff, parents, patrons, students and reporters. The meeting was called to order. Mr. Sloffer turned the meeting over to Dr. Yager. YEAR ROUND SCHOOL HEARING Dr. Yager opened the hearing by reviewing the concepts of using year round schooling, the schedule plans available, and the pros/cons of using this format. He recommended the year round school concept was not feasible for Northwest Allen County Schools. Board comment/question: agreed it would be a short term fix for NACS’ rapid growth; are any other corporations using this concept in only their elementary schools. There were no audience comments. In Mrs. Duff’s absence Mr. Felger read the Year Round School Resolution. Motion to approve by John Hilger; seconded by Nick Schortgen. Motion carried. Motion to adjourn the hearing by Nick Schortgen; seconded by John Hilger. Hearing adjourned. REGULAR MEETING Motion to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as presented was made by Ron Felger; seconded by John Hilger. Motion carried.

Junior High Poetry to appear in Anthology ISTEP results show continued success in meeting standards "We didn't see major gains or losses," said Dr. Charles Leonard about recently reported 1998 ISTEP+ results. "You never want to be satisfied, but as we look at our past performance and how we compare to others, we believe our students and staff are doing an excellent job." HSE students meeting standards in both mathematics and language arts at third grade totaled 82 percent; sixth grade, 75 percent; eighth grade, 83 percent; and tenth grade, 78 percent. See the chart titled 1998 ISTEP+ Percent Meeting Standards for a breakdown by grade and category in addition to percent of students meeting standard.
