She learned how to access and incorporate many of those resources during her Intel Teach to the Future training. The worldwide initiative provides hands-on, face-to-face teacher-led workshops focused on student-centered, project-based learning and the creation of curricular units and evaluation tools to address state and national standards. To date, over 300,000 teachers in 24 countries worldwide have been trained through the Intel Teach to the Future program.
LaMar has become an advocate for technology in her district and nationally by training additional teachers. Last summer, LaMar was one of 15 Senior Trainers who taught training classes for 1,500 Master Teachers around the country.

A Beginner's Guide to Integrating Technology
Are you feeling pressured to integrate technology into your K-12 curriculum? Do you feel overwhelmed and under-prepared for the information age? Whether you are a student teacher, first-year teacher, or veteran teacher new to technology, this article provides ideas you can use to assess where you are and to plan for the future. Included: Six steps for integrating technology painlessly plus Web sites and tips to motivate reluctant or fearful educators.
Are you tired of unused computers taking up space in your room? Are you a first-year teacher with many dreams but too little time and too few resources? Has your district mandated that each teacher begin "integrating technology" but you're not sure what that means? Have you decided to take the technology plunge and don't know where to begin! Let us help! Integrating technology simply means using computers within the existing curriculum. Technology should not supplant what you usually teach. It should become a tool just like a calculator, a pen, or a chalkboard that helps you teach and helps your students learn. It's that simple.

Are you wondering how to begin integrating the Internet and World Wide Web into your classroom instruction? If so, you've come to the right place. This section focuses on pedagogy , specifically, instructional strategies and tools for enhancing classroom learning using the Internet and World Wide Web in schools and in postsecondary institutions. We'll explore some of the current hot issues in education and technology. Finally, we'll examine tips for developing school and class websites and look at ways to make the transition from traditional forms of teaching and learning to more collaborative, project-based and student centered forms of learning.
Before exploring this section further, you might enjoy reading some first-hand accounts of how other teachers have started to use the Internet and Web in their own classrooms. Tales from the Electronic Frontier is a new publication offered in print and on the Web in which 10 teachers share actual classroom experiences using the Internet in K-12 science and mathematics. Their vivid stories illustrate how these powerful tools can enhance teaching and learning. The site includes 50+ annotated resources. One of the most important but least understood aspects of using information technology in educational institutions is the human component: the interrelationships among humans who *use* information technology as well as the relationships between humans and the technology (and information systems) medium. We strongly recommend a careful reading of the article by

Welcome to Teach 2000 The purpose of this World Wide Web site is to provide a guide for educators, including beginning and more experienced users of technology, to effectively integrate the use of the Internet and World Wide Web into the K-12 curriculum. The unique feature that distinguishes this Web site from many other educational Web sites is the focus on integrating theory, research, and administrative issues with pedagogical practices. In creating this site, we have sought to bring together our experiences with instructional technology theory and practice in Canadian and U.S. settings (in both K-12 and postsecondary institutions) and we hope to inspire a dialogue across international boundaries about issues of common concern as well as those unique to each country. In the different sections of Teach 2000 we provide links to online resources of practical advice for classroom teachers and students along with a range of scholarly academic research from various Canadian and U.S. universities. In this sense, we have strived to model our own vision of a true partnership between K-12 and postsecondary education institutions in the development, presentation, evaluation, and continued evolution of educational technology systems.

Educators today are emphasizing the use of technology to enhance the curriculum. Technology is one of many tools we use to teach our students. It enhances our teaching by providing an alternative method for the delivery of instruction. It improves student learning by providing different avenues for students to explore, and gives us a tool that helps address students' different learning styles. http://www.thejournal.com/magazine/vault/A2084.cfm

One way SouthCentral RTEC supports these educational systems is through intensive professional development for classroom teachers and teacher education faculty using the Active Learning with Technology Active Learning with Technology contains resources based on six constructivist principles. SouthCentral RTEC staff members also help educators use technology to increase student learning by providing state, district, and school leaders with resources, training, and assistance to help educational administrators acquire, manage, guide, and evaluate technology use in support of student mastery of content standards. Additionally, RTEC staff promote effective uses of electronic delivery through quality professional development and learner-centered opportunities for students.

Bridging the Divide: Using Standards of Technology Integration to Eliminate the Divide When it comes to standards to abide by when integrating technology into any classroom or culture there are many things to consider. Before technology can be used in teaching, the teacher must understand how to use the technology. Students must also be taught how to recognize the difference between the "good stuff" and the "bad stuff". Beyond a cultural application, the technology being used also needs to be understood. This will make it so that teachers and students alike can be prepared to be active citizens in the world of technologically advanced tools that they will find themselves in. By becoming competent in technological areas, Native peoples will be more likely to use and demand more technology, overcoming another part of the Digital Divide. As one teacher expressed in response to the survey, training teachers to be competent with technology is one of the first issues involved in integrating technology into culture and education. (see Survey Studies show that only one third of teachers nation wide feel that they are qualified to integrate technology into their curriculum.

During late September, 1998, hurricane Georges cut a path of destruction through heart of the Caribbean and the Gulf coast of the United States. Over three hundred people living on Caribbean islands were killed by the storm. Its strong winds, heavy rains, storm surge, and tornadoes resulted in an estimated two billion dollars in damage on the island of Puerto Rico alone. Thanks to advances in meteorological technology and the communication potential of the internet, events like hurricane Georges provide opportunities for integrated classroom learning about dramatic current events. This article provides detailed instructions for teaching a multi-day classroom lesson about Hurricane Georges using computers and internet resources as tools in the learning process. More than US$300,000 in classroom technology donated to enhance learning environments San Antonio, TX - June 17, 2002 - The SMARTer Kids Foundation of Canada and SMART Technologies Inc. announce their joint donation of more than US$300,000 in interactive classroom technology to support the Intel Teach to the Future program in North America. Intel Teach to the Future is a worldwide program to help teachers integrate technology into instruction and enhance student learning. To date, 500,000 teachers in 25 countries have completed training through this program. Pre-service educators and in-service teachers participating in the Intel Teach to the Future program learn from other teachers how to effectively incorporate technology tools and resources into their lesson plans. Both students and teachers are clearly benefiting from this program. In a 2001 survey of U.S. teachers, conducted nine months after they completed the program, 84 percent reported that using computers improved their instruction and 80 percent found that computer-based lessons enhanced student learning. "SMART chose to participate in the Intel Teach to the Future program because of its reputation and dedication to improving education worldwide," says David Martin, chairman and CEO of SMART Technologies Inc. "The program's goals are in synch with SMART's commitment to enhancing the learning environment for both students and teachers."
