This nine-week lecture course, offered to students on the M.Phil. in Anglo-Irish Literature and the M.Phil. in Creative Writing courses, supplies social, cultural and literary contexts for Anglo-Irish literature from the eighteenth century to the present. This course consists of nine lectures as follows:
  • Eighteenth-century Ireland. The Gaelic background. Swift and eighteenth-century Ireland. Burke and Berkeley. Thomas Moore: national poet. Nineteenth-century Ireland. The Literary Revival and Anglo-Ireland. The Literary Revival and Modernism. The Literary Revival and Modernism.
