Location The State of Kuwait is located at the north-western end of the Arabian Gulf, which adjoins it to the east. To the south and west it is bordered by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and to the north and west by the Republic of Iraq. Because of its position, it is regarded as the north-eastern gateway of the Arabian Peninsula. Weather Average humidity is 42%, although it can reach 95% or even 100% on some summer days, particularly if there are south-easterly winds. Rainfall in Kuwait is slight, ranging between 110 and 121 millimeters, most of which falls between November and April. It varies from one area to another. Area The distance between the most northerly and the most southerly points of its borders is about 200 kilometers (124 miles), and between the eastern and western borders measured along the 29 th parallel of latitude is about 170 kilometers (106 miles). The total length of the borders is about 685 kilometers (426 miles), of which some 190 kilometers (121 miles) are maritime borders along the Gulf to the east, while 490 kilometers (304 miles) are joint borders, of which approximately 250 kilometers (155 miles are with Saudi Arabia and 240 kilometers (149 miles) with the Republic of Iraq. Since Kuwait lies between latitudes 28.45 and 30.05 north of the Equator and longitudes 46.30 and 48.30 east of Greenwich, its climate is of the continental type distinctive of desert regions in general.
