Three Unspeakable Words
by George D. Phillies Strategy Session Libertarian Candidate for United States Congress, 3rd District, MA Libertarians around the United States face the challenge of organizing a serious, fully-competitive, major political party. That organizational effort requires satisfying a variety of needs. A major political party needs activists, ballot access, candidates, local, state, and national organization, fund-raising, supportive voters, and VICTORIES. Progress on all of these needs must be made simultaneously. The Libertarian Party cannot hope to match the Republican, Democratic, and Reform Parties in toe-to-toe electoral contests until it has the prerequisites for being a major political party. These are:
  • - tens of thousands of activists and hundreds of professional campaign advisers,
  • - full ballot access in every state in the union

Convention Info!
Protest!
Enough is enough! If you're fed up with Democrats and Republicans (we call them Republicrats - the one party) then you should protest. Change your voter registration party preference to "Libertarian". You can still vote any way you like in the general election, but you'll be sending a message to the Republicrats that you've had enough of their tax and spend ways of stealing your property and eroding your liberty. It's time for Bill of Rights Enforcement! We have reached full party status by having over 6605 Alaskans registered with party preference listed as Libertarian! Help us keep full party status in Alaska. Register to vote as Libertarian today, even if you have not moved since the last time you voted! Also, we are actively seeking candidates for state legislature and for governor, as well as local offices.
We're Visible!
The word "Libertarian" is popping up in the Alaska media more and more. Help keep us there. We need volunteers to staff the 2002 fair booth in Palmer. We especially need help from the Valley.

Libertarians praise Supreme Court blanket primary decision
PANORAMA CITY Hailing it as a momentous ruling for all political parties, the Libertarian Party of California praised today's 7-2 Supreme Court decision striking down California's blanket primary, which was approved by voters in March, 1996. "This vital decision emphasizes the importance of political parties' freedom to choose their own candidates," stated Libertarian state chair Mark Hinkle. "We are very pleased that the Justices, after hearing the arguments from both sides, saw how the blanket primary undermined the very existence of political parties."

Libertarian Party Blocks Bill
Statehouse Update
The Libertarian Party has blocked a bill that would have severely restricted political activity by candidates and political parties on Election Day. The bill, HB1550, would have prohibited electioneering within 100 feet of a polling place on Election Day. This would have included the placing of signs, bumper stickers, and even candidates shaking the hands of voters. Libertarian Party of Indiana Executive Director Brad Klopfenstein was the only person to testify against the bill in the House Committee on Elections and Apportionment. According to Klopfenstein, "The ability of candidates to get before voters would be severely restricted, especially for smaller parties and candidates in smaller elections. Sometimes, the only opportunity voters have to meet candidates is on Election Day." Several organizations, individuals, and Representatives testified in favor of passage of the bill. When asked by a committee member as to whether he felt that meeting voters on Election Day really made much of a difference, Klopfenstein gave evidence that votes for Libertarian candidates have as much as tripled at polling locations where they have handed out literature and met voters. Additional Efforts
The Libertarian Party of Indiana is having additional impact at the statehouse again in 2003. This year, the Libertarian Party has stepped-up its presence with the Indiana General Assembly. Johnson County Chairman Jody Veldkamp has been tracking legislation, both pro and con, that are important to the citizens of Indiana and the Libertarian Party.

The Free State Project
The Free State Project
is a plan in which 20,000 or more liberty-oriented people will move to a single state of the U.S., where they may work within the political system to reduce the size and scope of government. The success of the Free State Project would likely entail reductions in burdensome taxation and regulation, reforms in state and local law, an end to federal mandates, and a restoration of constitutional federalism, demonstrating the benefits of liberty to the rest of the nation and the world.

Welcome
The Libertarian Party is the third-largest political party in the United States as well as the State of Delaware. Our party stands on a strong platform of limited government, personal freedom and responsibility, and privacy. Please feel free to browse our site for the latest news about the Libertarian Party in the State of Delaware and all across the nation.
What do Libertarians Believe In?
Libertarians believe in free markets and free minds. We don't believe that anyone should initiate force against another person to achieve their goals. This means that it's as wrong to take tax money from someone to fund a welfare program as it is to hold someone up at gunpoint to steal their wallet. To us, force is force, whether it's a gun or a law. Libertarians believe government's only purpose is to protect people from violence and coercion. They value individual responsibility, and tolerate economic and social diversity.
Are you a libertarian?
