POLITICAL PARTIES
A political party is an organized group of voters that wants to influence government by electing its own candidates to public office. To form a political party in Maryland, a group of voters must file a valid petition in a timely manner with the State Board of Elections . To retain party status, however, either the party's candidate must poll 1% of the entire vote in the next general election, or at least 1% of the State's registered voters must be affiliated with the party by year's end (Code 1957, Art. 33, sec. 4-103). In Maryland, provisions for recognition of political parties by the State Board of Elections are established by law. They are found in the Annotated Code of Maryland (Code 1957, Art. 33, secs. 4-101 through 4-103). As of August 2002, six political parties were so recognized: the Constitution Party, the Democratic Party, the Green Party, the Libertarian Party, the Reform Party, and the Republican Party.
STATE CENTRAL COMMITTEES
Each political party in Maryland functions under its own constitution and bylaws, and is governed by a state central committee (Code 1957, Art. 33, secs. 4-201 through 4-205). Today, the state central committee is composed of the members of the party's local central committees for the counties and Baltimore City.

If you have ever thought that career criminals should be taken off our streets and locked away forever, you should vote Republican. If you have ever thought that we must put an end to illegal immigration once and for all, you should vote Republican. The California Republican Party will fight for:
  • Tougher penalties for career criminals. We will fight the liberals who killed the ''Three Strikes and You're Out" law.
  • An end to runaway illegal immigration. Help the Republican Party fight to stop the enormous burden illegal immigration puts on California's economy, schools, and hospitals.
  • A balanced federal budget. It's high-time the bloated federal government lived within its means. American families have to balance their budgetswhy shouldn't the government?

FIJA CATO NORML Message From The Chair Welcome to the official website of the Libertarian Party of Kansas. Hello, this is Steven Rosile, Chair of the Kansas Libertarian Party. I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your interest in the LP and tell you a little about us. The Kansas Libertarian Party was formed in the mid 70¹s shortly after the national Libertarian Party was formed in Colorado Springs, CO in December of 1972 by David Nolan, Carl Hess, and other mostly disgusted young Republicans (Carl Hess had written speeches for Barry Goldwater¹s 1964 presidential campaign). At this time, there was a group of what was known as ³objectivists² at Friends University in Wichita. Objectivism is a philosophy espoused by Ayn Rand, author of Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead, among others, Rand was the central figure in the objectivist movement that became widely endorsed by many. Some of the Friends University objectivists were inspired by the formation of the Libertarian Party and proposed that the group form a Kansas Libertarian Party. Some in the group wanted it to remain non-political.

You also ask whether the Libertarian National Committee (LNC) is a "political party" under Alaskan campaign disclosure law. Summary The Libertarian National Committee is not a "political party" under Alaska campaign disclosure law. Instead, the LNC is an out-of-state group. As such, it may not contribute to Alaska candidates. Before it contributes to Alaska groups or parties, it must satisfy the campaign disclosure provisions that apply to groups—including limitations on the types and amounts of contributions. Even if the LNC does not comply with the restrictions on group activity, the ALP may accept money from the LNC if the following conditions are met:

Libertarians believe that both individual liberty and personal responsibility are required in a civil society, and that government welfare of all types (social, individual, corporate, and political) rewards irresponsibility. Please view the State Program of the Libertarian Party of Maryland, which explains how we can start restoring our liberties in the "Free State", and the National Libertarian Party Platform , which details how "we seek a world of liberty; a world in which all individuals are sovereign over their own lives, and no one is forced to sacrifice his or her values for the benefit of others."
