SOUTH AFRICAN SNAKES INTRODUCTION: The wilds of Africa are often associated with snakes and rightly so, but, unfortunately, usually for the wrong reasons. While most people are afraid of snakes, South Africa is well known amongst herpetologists and snake lovers for the interesting variety of species of which some are highly priced in the pet trade. Because of the potential pressure by the export trade on natural populations, the collecting, keeping, trading and export of snakes is strictly controlled. In general they are timid creatures which will avoid confrontations except in self defense. Most species are actually harmless, graceful, elegant and some even pretty to beautiful, but it also can not be denied that a few do look nasty, some are very dangerous and may take on terrifying poses and behaviour patterns when they feel threatened. Thus one should never attempted handling or picked up snakes unless positively identified as being harmless. ADDERS BLACK MAMBA GREEN MAMBA SNOUTED COBRA ... SOUTHERN VINE or TWIG SNAKE

Caelin Gabriel of Shunyata research, a congenial and very understated fellow, arranged to send me the three cables his company produces. A few days later I received the Mamba Black Mamba and King Cobra (fortunately not the biting varieties, though every bit as sinister, as you soon will read).
Immediately upon connection I was amazed at what I was hearing - FAR more detail, greater clarity and resolution, a much quieter background.
before the power cords were connected to the components - they were simply plugged into the wall! PowerSnakes actually absorb power line noise, improving the sound of any component on that circuit. Thus, they can better your system without being connected to a component. This effect was immediately obvious in my system, but Caelin tells me that characteristic will vary system to system.
But hold on to your hats, it gets better, much better. After the minimum recommended 100 hours of break-in (4-5 weeks is required to realize full performance - Yikes!), I connected a Black Mamba and King Cobra to my components. The improvement was startling, a marked advance over the very good AC power cables already in use. In fact, the amount of difference was at least as great as you would expect when upgrading from stock power cables to a good aftermarket unit. The changes in my system were far from subtle and bordering on the profound. There was a dramatic increase in both background silence and resolution of fine detail. The bass, oh my, the bass was literally transformed! I have never heard such a remarkable improvement in extension, power, and accuracy from a simple cable change. The improvement shocked even these jaded ears.

45. LD50 For Various Snakes.
LD50 Scores for various snakes. Demansia olivacea, Olive whip snake, 714.2,Dendroaspis angusticeps, Eastern green mamba, 3.05, 1.3, 0.117, 60.095.0.
http://mysite.mweb.co.za/residents/net12980/ld50tot.html
All data in the table that follows must be viewed with grave suspicion. The Mouse LD50 is a figure that is indicative of a dosage that will kill 50% of the mice envenomated within 24 hours. These are standard 20 g mice. Thus a simple calculation involving yield and LD50 SHOULD be indicative of how many mice such a snake is capable of killing and by very crude approximation the weight of a human it would kill. Example:
Dendroaspis polylepis (Black Mamba) has a LD50 (subcutaneous) of 0.32 mg/kg and a yield of 50.0 - 120.0 mg of venom. This means that it takes 0.32mg of venom to kill 500 grammes, of mice (remember it only kills half of those it is administered to). We use a standard 20g mouse, thus there are 50 mice to a kilogramme or 25 mice to 500 grammes. 1 mg of venom is enough to kill 78.125 mice. That is 1 divided by 0.32 and the result multiplied by 25. The snake yields up to 120 mg of venom so we multiply our result by 120 and arrive at a figure of 9375 mice. Or, by extrapolation, 187.5 kg of human(s). We do know from reliable records that this snake has killed 11 adult humans in a single attack. Thus the mouse LD50 obviously does not tell the whole story! It is however a baseline comparison that has some merits. Mice are not humans. The testing has been done in various places where standards differ from laboratory to laboratory. Some data comes from snakes that were not - or cannot - be reconciled with an actual species.

46. Myths Vs Fact
The question is largely academic as a man/mamba encounter usually produces two creatures running in opposite directions. snakes suck the milk from cows and
http://mysite.mweb.co.za/residents/net12980/myths.html
MYTH vs FACT
MYTH
FACT
Once a venomous snake has been milked, or if it has just bitten something it is harmless. A snake's venom apparatus is a modified saliva gland. It continuously makes venom. Recorded facts show a black mamba striking and fatally envenomating 11 people within 1 minute. The so-called spitting cobras will spit continuously and produce prodigous quantities of venom Snake charmers make themselves immune by removing the fangs of their snake. Although a fangless snake may temporarily be incapable of inflicting a deep envenomated bite it continuously replaces its fangs throughout its life. Even the scratches left by its other teeth may absorb some of the venom that may drip out while striking - and it may prove fatal If you kill a snake - watch out because it's mate will seek you out and wreak revenge on you. Snakes are solitary animals and have no mate. It is very doubtful if they have a concept of death. You can rest assured that no mate will "seek you out" as it has no way of knowing you killed its "mate" in the first place There exists a snake which grips its tail in its mouth and rolls after you like a hoola-hoop.

The snake

In the upper jaw of the snake were only two teeth, the poison fangs, ankylotish attached to the inside of the jawbone. In the poison fangs there were groves through which the poison from the poison gland, by which they were connected, flowed. The teeth of the poisonous snake were badly subjected to wear and must therefore be replaced from time to time. Sometime they broke prematurely. But then the replacing teeth shove on, which grew always under the functioning teeth, to take the place of the lost teeth. This cycle of losing and replacing continued throughout the snake's life. (pg. 55-56) From an arbitrarily other page:
Sloughing is an imperative demand in the life of a snake. In contrast to most animals a snake continues to grow form birth to its death. Because he literally outgrows his horn skin, the snake is forced to throw it off regularly, three to four times a year.

She then projects an inky cloud of Darkforce as an illusion of that friend or companion and directs the illusion to embrace the target. The illusion is of Incredible intensity. The target may resist with a Psyche FEAT vs Incredible intensity. Failure allows the Darkforce illusion to approach and embrace the character. The Darkforce grips with Excellent strength, and reduces the character's Endurance by one rank at the end of each round. If the character's Endurance drops below Feeble, they die. A Psyche FEAT should be allowed each round to try and realize what is happening and try to break free. Bombardment of the Darkforce projection by energy attacks related to heat or light will disrupt the illusion and require Mamba to roll on the Stun Table.
