U TO OFFER CERTIFICATE FOR DEVELOPMENTAL EDUCATION
The certificate program is for the area of postsecondary developmental education, which means working with students who are not qualified for regular admission to selective colleges on developing study skills in math, reading and writing. It is ideal for graduate students in any fields who are interested in teaching in junior or community colleges or working as academic advisers in four-year colleges.
Brothern said the program may be beneficial for even educators who plan to teach at four-year universities. Some four-year colleges and even private colleges have students, for example, those who enter the school for their athletic prowess, who need developmental education.

Mission of GLSEN About GLSEN Because education policy is determined at the most local level by school boards, and because there are many stakeholders who have a say in such policy and its implementation, it is imperative that we establish community-based chapters that work to create schools where respect for all is taught. GLSEN is about changing schools and school culture around LGBT issues and people. GLSEN is a leader and ally in the progressive movement for social justice. Change begins with grassroots organizing, with chapter-building and employing the talents of individual volunteers. We are gay, lesbian, heterosexual, bisexual, and transgender. We come from every walk of life and occupation, and we value and welcome all who share our philosophy. Working with GLSEN gives us all the purpose and the power to achieve our vision. General Description
Perhaps you have heard the word " VIBE " floating around the church and wondered what it was all about. It’s not a new dance craze or some new theology, but it is pretty radical stuff. VIBE is an acronym, which stands for... V alue, I nvest, B uild, and E quip VIBE is a new design in youth ministry, which has its roots in the "Making Waves" urban strategy program, which Pilgrim has been participating in for the past couple of years. It is a new model, which pools the resources from several churches in order to offer high quality youth ministry in an urban setting. VIBE is currently in its interim trial period. When fully up and running it will be staffed by five full time youth workers. The job description for the people they are looking for is rather stringent with a minimum of five years experience doing youth work before one can even apply. This will help to insure a hard working dedicated staff and a high quality of ministry.

Students choosing one of these programs will typically be assigned an advisor from one of these departments. The Broad Field Science Programs are interdepartmental programs tailored to various interdisciplinary niches in the sciences. These programs are the equivalent of a major and a minor. A student selecting one of these programs is not required to have an additional minor. Two of these programs lead to certification in secondary or middle school education. Students interested in certification in those programs should consult the Secondary Education Handbook for Undergraduates (http://www.uwrf.edu/college-of-education/Handbooks.htm) for the detailed requirements for various levels of certification in Wisconsin and Minnesota.
