Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program This 12-month program, which begins each July 1, is designed to refine and advance your knowledge and clinical skills in the practice of dentistry. The program provides you with clinical experience beyond the scope and depth of your undergraduate dental school curriculum. It bridges the gap between dental school and dental practice. Clinical instruction is offered in all of the clinical disciplines. The didactic component provides postgraduate training in the basic and behavioral sciences, as well as the clinical sciences. Clinical and classroom instruction are provided in endodontics, esthetic dentistry, implantology, operative dentistry, oral surgery, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics, prosthodontics, temporomandibular joint-myofacial pain dysfunction and practice management. Additional emphasis is placed on restorative and rehabilitative care, treating the medically compromised patient and practice management. Four-handed dentistry and a group practice environment enhance the clinical setting. Eligibility
An applicant for this program must be a citizen of the United States or a foreign national having a visa permitting permanent residence in the United States. Applicants must also submit evidence of graduation from a school of dentistry accredited by the American Dental Association, the Canadian Dental Association or verification from the Dean of one of those accredited dental schools that the applicant will graduate during the current academic year.

Where The Money Goes Winning Numbers Numbers Games Promotions When You Win ... Feature Story
The Missouri Lottery has contributed over $1.9 billion to Missouri schools since 1993! This section tells you more about how the money is spent on each program. Fiscal Year Results
The Lottery's annual transfer of proceeds to the state has increased for the tenth consecutive year. The total proceeds contributed to education in fiscal year 2002 were more than $160 million, breaking the previous fiscal-year record for the eighth year in a row. Proceeds for fiscal year 2001 were more than $156.9 million. For more information, please see Sales and Proceeds History How Each Dollar Is Divided
Approximately 27.5 cents of every dollar spent on the Missouri Lottery benefits Missouri's education programs. Fifty-nine cents goes back to players as prizes, 7.5 cents is used for administrative costs and 6 cents goes to retailers in the form of commissions, incentives and bonuses. In all, nearly 94 cents of every dollar stays in Missouri! How Proceeds Are Allocated
When the Lottery began in 1986, proceeds from ticket sales went to the Missouri State General Revenue Fund. In August 1992, voters passed Amendment 11 earmarking Lottery proceeds to solely benefit public education. Each year, the Missouri Legislature and the Governor determine how these proceeds will be allocated. The proceeds represent about 3 percent of the total funding for Missouri's public elementary, secondary and higher education systems.

Process for Development and Approval of Competency Based General Education The General Education Review Committee led the process of reviewing general education and adopting a competency-based program. The committee consisted of two co-chairs and two representatives from each of the four schools. The members of the committee were Dr. Larry Martin, Dr. Betsy Griffin, co-chairs, Dr. Tia Strait, Mr. William Pinet, Dr. Lanny Ackiss, Dr. Paul Teverow, Dr. Pat Lapira, and Dr. Danny Overdeer, Mr. Marvin Larson, and Dr. Mark Comstock. The process is ongoing and the program is tentative and open to revisions. All academic departments were asked to review the state goals and suggested competencies. The departments completed matrices for goals addressed by their core courses responding to the state suggested competencies, recommending new competencies, and indicating course objectives that addressed the competencies. It was determined that additional MSSC goals would be needed to reflect the institution’s unique areas of emphasis. Subcommittees in consultation with department and program chairs developed three MSSC goals and competencies for those goals. These goals involve International Cultural Studies, Health and Wellness, and Economics.

Changing the Face of Education in Missouri by Monica Beglau Using technology to create classroom learning experiences that engage young learners in new ways is at the heart of the eMINTS (enhancing Missouri's Instructional Networked Teaching Strategies) program. This program is changing the face of education across the state. The goal of the program is to support Missouri educators as they integrate multimedia technology into inquiry-based, student-centered, interdisciplinary, collaborative teaching practices that result in improved student performance, increased parent involvement and enriched instructional effecti vene ss. Beginnings http://emints.more.net/evaluation/reports/mints_report.html Based on early research findings about the improved student achievement found in the Mints classrooms, eMINTS was inaugurated in 88 third and fourth grade classrooms in 44 school districts across the state in fall 1999. The eMINTS Revolution Since 1999 eMINTS classrooms have been added across the state using a combination of local, state and federal funds. MOREnet (Missouri Research and Education Network) administers eMINTS under a contract from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). MOREnet provides Internet connectivity, access to Internet2, technical support, video conferencing services and training to Missouri's K-12 schools, colleges and universities, public libraries, health care, state government and other affiliates.
