The links on the left bar of this page should open a new window; close the new window to return here. My name is Pat (Cahill) Calton and I was born in Carroll county, so that will always be home to me, but I now reside in Morgan county. My ancestors were from Carroll and Saline counties and my husbands ancestors were from Camden and Morgan counties. I have visited Carroll, Camden, and Morgan county cemeteries and will have pictures available at this site soon (in fact some of them are already available....check the list at the left side of the page). I will also, as time permits, post pictures of my ancestors families on these pages. I recently inherited a box of pictures from my Mother, and even though some of them were unidentified I have been able to identify most of them. PLEASE...if you have albums or boxes of pictures label them now! We wouldn't want all those irreplacable pictures to be unidentified to future generations.

    Welcome To Benton County
    Missouri
Benton County was created 1835. North of the Osage River came from Pettis County,
south of the Osage from Greene County. In 1841, a northwest section was returned to
Pettis County, and Niangua Township became part of Kinderhook (Camden) County.
The north half of Hickory County was formed from southern Benton County in 1845,
and the boundaries of Benton County Mo have remained unchanged since that time. ( Townships are shown on the 'Benton County 1900' map - see below )
