Chiefs are known for having a well-rounded knowledge of many things. They usually met in tribal gatherings around an evening camp fire to drink herbal tea and make plans for the well-being of the tribe. A special blend of tea would be prepared for the Chief with many tasteful herbs that would help him to think clearly and make good decisions. We call this blend CHIEF'S DELIGHT. Ingredients - Strawberry Leaf, Myrtle Leaf, Blackberry Leaf, Rose Hips and Juniper Berry Native Americans learned long ago to make life enjoyable, to listen to the birds sing and to appreciate the harmony of nature. We are proud to represent the works of these exceptional artists. More artists who we represent will be up as time permits. Click on an artist's name to browse their portfolio. Howard Terpning is known for his art ot the Native American people. "It's the strength of character that I see in the faces from the past that compels me to retell their stories. I feel a kinship to the People, and I want to keep their history alive." Terpning is most proud of praise from Native Americans today. At a recent art exhibition a Cheyenne woman stopped him to say .... "I just want to touch you, because you are the only one who perceives our people as we perceive ourselves." David Armstrong "I have an overwhelming concern for the beauty the earth has lost and all that can still be preserved. Through my work I have tried to show the timeless, peaceful bounty and beauty of the earth and to express my concern for its fragility," David Armstrong painted the life he lived on a farm in Pennsylvania, in touch with the harmony of nature and man, a harmony depicted in his paintings. Robert Bateman was born in Toronto is known for his wildlife art , and has been a keen artist and naturalist from his early days. Robert Bateman has always painted wildlife and is considered one of the foremost artists depicting the world of nature. In the '70s and early '80s, Bateman's work began to receive critical acclaim and to attract an enormous following. His work is in many public and private collections and several art museums.

As we enter the 21st Century, it is impossible to ignore the number of elderly that will need health care. In September 1990, the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services released a report to the United States entitled "Healthy People 2000." This was a cooperative effort involving the government, private businesses, voluntary and professional associations, and concerned individual citizens. "Healthy People 2000" was designed to stimulate initiatives to improve significantly the health of ALL Americans. Three broad goals were identified with measurable objectives under the broad categories of:
  • Health Promotion Health Protection Preventive Services
The focus was no longer only on the treatment of disease but on illness prevention and health promotion . The report challenged us all to change our behaviors and environments to support health for all. The United States has been a "melting pot" for many years as cultures tried to fit into the American way of life but this is no longer the case. The United States is now more like a

http://www.thewildwest.org/native_american/religion/
If you look around you will see countless contributions from American Indians - from the parka on your back; to 220 medical drugs and drug sources; to the countless uses for cotton; to corn and potatoes, foods that make up half the earth's supply of staple foods. While the world seems eager to accept and utilize the technology of American Indians, their most valuable offerings...lessons of the mind and spirit...are not as readily received. Even for those who do seek the wisdom of this pantheism, a true understanding of Indian religion and philosophy will always remain far from our grasp, as much is a mystery. However, the pursuit of an understanding of mysteries that bring us unity, harmony and respect within nature can offer knowledge and comfort not found elsewhere. A Brief Intro to Lakota Metaphysics

A BRIEF INTRO TO LAKOTA METAPHYSICS As with many a metaphysical topic, there often is much debate and contrary thought within the same principle. Extensive reading about any Indian culture's religion or philosophy will no doubt bring forward differing views, to the extent that one elder or holy man may directly contradict another on any given topic. This has become particularly true in the last few decades with the wave of cross-cultural interest in American Indians - a time when suddenly everyone and his uncle, Indian and non-Indian, is a "shaman" and writing books, teaching seminars and hosting sweat lodge on board cruise ships.

Neversink, NY While mind/body/spirit pursuits may be recent trends for contemporary Americans, our native forebears have been participating in such holistic rituals for centuries. New Age Health Spa pays homage to the rich heritage of the culture, which once inhabited its 80-acre spa locale by offering to its guests a series of Native American Indian inspired programs in 2003. The first of two special weekend workshops entitled "Compassionate Communication" or Kak Shikchima Klathawah is offered February 14-15 and then again November 7-8. This program is designed to encourage spa guests to explore new patterns of communication gleaned from the time-tested oral tradition of Native Americans. Participants will work to transform every conversation into an opportunity to bring greater compassion, clarity and self-awareness into the lives of those around us. Another biannual event at New Age is "Spirit Quest", offered May 2-4 and August 22-25. This unique weekend event delves into the beauty and power of nature, animal totems and shamanic tools and practices. The program includes a sacred hike on Coyote Trail; shamanic drum and rattle circle and a sacred fire ceremony based on Apache tradition. Participants will discover how to receive the teachings of the spirit and to live in greater harmony with nature.

Warriors of the Rainbow
(Cree? / Cherokee?)
There was an old lady, from the "Cree" tribe, named "Eyes of Fire", who prophesied that one day, because of the white mans' or Yo-ne-gis' greed, there would come a time,
when the fish would die in the streams,
the birds would fall from the air,
the waters would be blackened,
and the trees would no longer be,
mankind as we would know it, would all but cease to exist. There would come a time when the "keepers of the legend, stories, culture rituals, and myths, and all the Ancient Tribal Customs" would be needed to restore us to health. They would be mankind's key to survival, they were the "Warriors of the Rainbow". There would come a day of awakening when all the peoples of all the tribes would form a New World of Justice, Peace, Freedom and recognition of the Great Spirit. The "Warriors of the Rainbow" would spread these messages and teach all peoples of the Earth or "Elohi".
They would teach them how to live the "Way of the Great Spirit".
They would tell them of how the world today has turned away from the Great Spirit and that is why our Earth is "Sick".

Cherokee Respect for Nature *A major source of spiritual communion for Native American peoples is the rhythm and balance found within all of Creation. Although
experienced differently by various tribes, these rhythms have inspired Native Americans in their search for spiritual meaning. Our peoples
have always seen themselves as part of the infinite rhythm and balance that surround humankind. For example, the four winds, the four
directions, the Sacred Circle, the sounds and symbols of nature have long served as foci for spiritual meditation and prayer. *The four seasons provide a good example of Native American spiritual disciplines. For those whose values reflect dominant society, the rhythm
and balance of the seasons turning back into itself, taking its tail into its mouth, like the Alpha and the Omega is lost. While dominant
U.S. culture maneuvers the seasons winter is for workshops and vacations to warm climates Native American culture understands the
seasons as an entree into God's all-encompassing Being. For Native Americans, the seasons reflect the very nature of God. They become the
