    GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT
    ST. JOHN'S UNIVERSITY
    GENERAL OVERVIEW
S t. John's University is a non-profit corporation dedicated to offering the highest standards of education for affordable tuition through the convenience of home-study. Students are encouraged to take full responsibility for seeking their own truth and applying it the best they can in their daily lives. St. John's University is incorporated in the states of Missouri and Louisiana under the full name of St. John's University of Practical Theology. S t. John's University was located in St. John's, Missouri and was named for the town in which it was located. Prior to being located in Missouri, the University was located in Nebraska and was named Eastern Nebraska Christian College. St. John's University fulfilled all educational requirements of the Nebraska and Missouri Boards of Education and since 1986, St. John's University has fulfilled all educational requirements of the Louisiana Board of Education and the Louisiana Board of Regents. E ducation is a life long process. Enhancing one's past learning is an enlivening and invigorating experience. Additional education and training have become an on-going component of adult life. Often adults are highly motivated to advance their career or life goals. Goal setting is a continual process throughout life. Various professions such as nursing, law enforcement, corrections, and substance abuse counseling do not allow much time for attending campus programs. External degree programs are often the only way these busy professionals can continue their education and advance in their profession. Home makers with families also greatly benefit from the many advantages of home study.

    The College
At Nebraska Methodist College we provide educational experiences that enable students to become much more than people with health care degrees or certificates. Our graduates have the keys to deeper self-awareness and stronger relationships. The development of these qualities provides our graduates with the resources necessary to give a higher level of care to their patients and make greater contributions to their communities. The Department of Nursing
Today's nurses teach, counsel, conduct research and take care into neighborhoods and homes. Positions in traditional settings such as hospitals and clinics require nurses to possess more practical skills than ever before. Nebraska Methodist College sets the standard for strong holistic education. Our emphasis on caring, wellness, health promotion and service makes our nursing programs the best choice for many students in the mid-west. The BSN Program
At Nebraska Methodist College, the foundation of our program is caring for our clients, fellow students and ourselves. The BSN curriculum emphasizes community-based nursing education which prepares students to provide holistic nursing care for people wherever they encounter them, with attention placed on the professional values of altruism, autonomy, human dignity, integrity and social justice.

In its general charitable purposes, a community foundation is much like a private foundation; its funds, however, are derived from many donors rather than a single source, as is usually the case with private foundations. Further, community foundations are usually classified under the tax code as public charities and therefore are subject to different rules and regulations than those which govern private foundations. (The site(s) listed below are launched in new browsers.) Grand Island Community Foundation
The Grand Island Community Foundation was established in 1960 to make a lasting difference in the quality of life for greater Hall County area citizens. The foundation does not operate charitable programs itself, but rather, through partnering and coordination, assists in orchestrating charitable activities within the greater Hall County community. The principle vehicle for its activities in this area is the GICF "wish list," which leverages the GICF Web site and other emerging communications technologies to bring potential donors together with worthwhile charitable causes and organizations. In addition to the general background information, the GICF Web site provides information about a number of endowed scholarship funds established by people and organizations interested in assisting Grand Island and Hall County area students in continuing their education beyond high school.
    Lincoln Community Foundation

    Nebraska Community Foundation

The Nebraska Community Foundation was established in 1993 to provide financial management, strategic development and education/training services to communities, organizations, and donors throughout Nebraska. The foundation provides affiliated fund status (allowing communities or organizations to achieve non-profit charitable status without forming their own non-profit corporation) and strategic development assistance in nearly 150 communities throughout Nebraska. The foundation also maintains a special initiative called the Rural Entrepreneurship Initiative that attempts to build stronger rural development strategies employing entrepreneurial opportunities. Visitors to the foundation's Web site will find information on how to start or support a current fund, a recent annual report, a listing of recent grant recipients, and contact information.
