COPED Coalition 2003 Divorce Education Class Schedule About Lancaster County Programs: Each year, over 1000 children under the age of 18 are affected by divorce in Lancaster County. Research indicates that for many of these children, separation or divorce may leave overwhelming feelings of insecurity, guilt, shame, loneliness and failure. Often, these feelings stay with the child for a lifetimeaffecting not only their self-esteem, but also their ability to cope, and handle conflict, peer pressure and anger. The Lancaster County Coalition to assist Children of Parents Experiencing Divorce (C.O.P.E.D.) was organized in 1999. It is comprised of community agencies that provide family and parenting education and support. The goal of C.O.P.E.D. is to cooperatively provide education and support to families in order that the effects of divorce on children are minimized. There are a variety of programs and services available in Lancaster County to meet the needs of divorcing families. Programs are coordinated through the Coalition to ensure services are provided on an on-going basis.

WELCOME WHAT'S HAPPENING Current Events IEA Reporter ... ARCHIVED CURRENT EVENTS IEA Reporter OCT. 1999 (Volume 54, Number 1) During my career . . . One of the major changes that occurred was that teachers could teach on a provisional certificate when I began teaching. In my case, I took two years teacher training in high school in Nebraska and taught three years before attending any college classes. I'm sure this affected the students I taught. I was barely 18 and taught grades 1-8 in a one-room school where I built the fires, carried in the water, and cleaned the schoolall for $65 a month. I did not have adequate training to give the students what they needed, although I gave it my best. I was expected to discipline my students and there were no lawsuits if a child was spanked. However, I never found the need to do so. When I married and moved to Idaho and again began teaching, I still taught on a provisional certificate until I received my degree at Idaho State University.
