Nevada SMART Project
A s we approach the end of this century, providing high-quality, on-time services, tools, and strategies that will support school reform requires that we increasingly draw upon technology to address complex educational issues. The collaborative efforts of Nevada's school districts and the Nevada Department of Education (NDE) in developing the Statewide Management of Automated Record Transfer (SMART) System Plan is evidence of both Nevada's recognition of this need, and determination to address it. The Department has enlisted the services of WestEd and its integration team to bring to bear the best thinking, planning, and production of tools available nationally to address the information needs of school reform. Nevada's Department of Educaction and selected Districts work with the integration team to install computer-based systems and procedures enabling effective student record management at both the local and state levels. Nevada's students, parents, educators and schools benefit through improved quality of educational information, better information at sustainable costs, streamlined state and federal reporting, and acquisition of systems infrastructure.

This site is listed in the BBC Education Web Guide. Begin your journey on the internet with The Rail. This is junction 1360 on "The Science Expedition". Governments play numerous roles in nuclear energy and radioactive waste management. On one hand, they may be active promoters of nuclear energy in many countries. On the other hand, they are also the regulators of things nuclear. This dual role often leads to complex relationships and overlaps between various government departments or ministries. The situation can become even more complicated when several government agencies claim jurisdiction over different (or sometimes the same) aspects. To complete the picture, you often have to add in different levels of government (e.g. local, regional, state, and national). An important point to remember is that the regulatory framework and laws are different in each country. International
