About New Brunswick The eastern boundary is entirely coastal - the Gulf of St Lawrence and Northumberland Strait - and delightfully dotted with warm, sandy beaches...the warmest salt water north of Virginia. Chignecto Bay and the 24-kilometre (15-mile) wide Isthmus of Chignecto, which connects New Brunswick to Nova Scotia, form part of New Brunswick's southern border. The rest of it is the Bay of Fundy. Its tides - the highest and wildest in the world - have carved a spectacular coastline. New Brunswick is also connected to Prince Edward Island by the world-famous Confederation Bridge. Heritage Buildings of Sackville, NB

This project applied Geographic Information System technologies to the identification and interpretation of Sackville’s heritage buildings. Students in the Geography 3301 Historical Geography class effectively contracted the first part of the research, assisted by the hiring of a geomatics specialist from the Tantramar Planning District Commission, who joined with the Heritage Branch of the New Brunswick Department of Economic Development, Culture and Tourism as partners in the project. The project produced an updated database for over 200 historic Sackville buildings, many thematic maps, a series of digital images, various scholarly presentations, public lectures and publications, and a CD-ROM containing digital images, maps, and text interpretation. Funding was provided from Mount Allison University’s SSHRC General Research Grant (in two phases) and the Senate Committee on Teaching. A recent publication from the project appears in The Journal of Geography in Higher Education

    Quebec geography and history
    Quebec geography
Quebec, in 1996, is a province containing about 7 million inhabitants. Quebec is a peninsula more-or-less shaped like a triangle from which we must subtract the land mass which makes up Labrador ( and which is part of Newfoundland). From east to west, Quebec is bordered by Labrador, New Brunswick, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York, and Ontario. Most of the population is to be found in the southern part of the province, especially along the shores of the St. Lawrence River. Colonization first took place along the St. Lawrence, then the Richelieu River, then the Outaouais, then the Eastern Townships, and finally in the Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean and Abitibi regions.
