I serving on a number of boards and commissions . Field investigations, regional geologic reports, detailed and reconnaissance geologic maps, and stratigraphic and mineralogical studies assist in finding and extracting both hydrocarbons and mineral ores. Many geologists, mining engineers, prospectors, and landowners visit the Bureau to confer with scientists about geologic data and interpretations. Citizens of New Mexico obtain services such as mineral identification, or laboratory analyses of water, soil, and other samples. The Bureau impartially shares non-proprietary geologic information from its research, publications, open-file reports, and database files with all companies, individuals, agencies, and institutions. Some examples of these database files include the Library of Subsurface Data, the Core Library, the Geologic Information Center, and the Coal Resource database. The purpose of this web site (and the paper version of the NMBGMR Guide to Services) is to aid the citizens and public employees of New Mexico in taking advantage of the services available at the New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources. Names and telephone numbers of appropriate staff are included with the description of each service or function.

In an effort to improve international collaborations in science and technology, personnel from the University of New Mexico visited several Latin American countries in the summer of 1990 to identify and evaluate opportunities for collaborative projects. Meetings were held with officials from various governments, educational institutions, research facilities, and industrial firms to gage interest in establishing efforts of cooperation in technical fields. The meetings resulted in the identification of areas of common interest for employing hands-on education, research, and technology transfer in state-of-the-art technology and science. As a result of these visits, an organizational meeting was held in December, 1990, at the University of New Mexico, involving personnel from universities, industries, governments, and foundations throughout Ibero-America. These discussions, which resulted in the creation of ISTEC, identified a number of obstacles that need to be addressed:

Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN)
Overview
Since graduate education in nursing builds on the baccalaureate curriculum, students are expected to enter the program with prerequisite coursework and clinical nursing competence. Specific areas that will be built upon, but not repeated at the graduate level, include: basic anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology; introductory pharmacology; basic growth and development; basic physical and psychosocial assessment; basic statistics; interviewing and development of therapeutic relationships and community health nursing. Students who seek admission without some of these competencies will need to take personal responsibility for acquiring them. The College of Nursing and the University of New Mexico have coursework, clinical opportunities and faculty available to assist students, if necessary, prior to entering the program. All graduates of the MSN program, regardless of their chosen concentration, must complete 12 credits of general core courses. These courses include:

Summary of Survey Results on Lottery Unclaimed Prize Money

The following will summarize the results of a survey on lottery unclaimed prize money developed by NCLGS. The survey was distributed to members of the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL) on April 30 by its Executive Director, Mr. David Gale, whose cooperation and facilitation contributed to a credible response. Summary
As of December 14, 1998, all U.S. members of NASPL, consisting of 37 states and the District of Columbia, have responded to the survey. The survey focused on whether state laws required that unclaimed lottery prize money revert to the prize pool or into other state resource pools. The survey also attempted to measure the effect of the return of the unclaimed prize money to the prize pool on lottery sales in states which required such return. Where the Money Goes
Out of the 38 jurisdictions that responded (37 states and the District of Columbia), 22 reported full or partial return of the unclaimed lottery prize money to the prize pool. Sixteen reported that unclaimed prize money went to other state asset pools.
