DIRECTORY OF AGENCY HIV/AIDS COMPLAINT PROCEDURES
Although any complaints regarding HIV/AIDS (e.g., refusal of treatment, discrimination, need for support services) may be directed to the AIDS Institute, many agencies have their own complaint functions dealing with HIV/AIDS issues. This directory compiles all such agency complaint procedures to provide easy access to these agencies if a complaint arises, and to assist State agencies in addressing HIV/AIDS-related complaints they may receive. AIDS Institute Commission of Correction Department of Correctional Services Department of Insurance ... State Education Department AIDS Institute Occasionally, the AIDS Institute (AI) receives complaints about services provided by agencies that are funded through contractual agreements or by regulated facilities. The AI might also receive complaints about services provided by or funded through another State agency. Most complaints come directly from the client or patient. Complaints can also come from a client's/patient's family member, guardian, significant other/partner, caregiver or others who have a relationship to the client/patient. Complaints should be referred to the appropriate Bureau/Office designee listed below. The booklet "About the AIDS Institute" includes a description of programs managed by each of the named bureaus and offices. If a complainant is unsure of the appropriate office, any of the contacts below will be able to transfer the complainant to the correct office.

NCSL's 2002 Fall Forum will be critical and exciting in several respects. It will mark the transition from the old to the new committee structure-and will give participants plenty of opportunity to learn more about the new committees and help shape their planning for the coming year. The meeting also will occur just weeks before the beginning of most state legislative sessions and of the new 108 th Congress. The Fall Forum will look ahead to the issues that will dominate the agendas for state legislatures and Congress in 2003. It will also give legislators and staff the latest information on recently passed federal initiatives that they will need to implement in the coming months. Wednesday, December 11
