Johnson named state superintendent of education JACKSON – The State Board of Education voted Thursday to hire Dr. Henry L. Johnson to serve as Mississippi’s state superintendent of education. Johnson, 56, is set to begin the job August 1, 2002. He will become the first African-American to be appointed as state superintendent of education. “Dr. Johnson is a proven education leader who will continue to advance public education in Mississippi,” said State Board of Education Chairman Kenny Bush. “His experience with and knowledge of a strong accountability system and an assessment/accreditation model very similar to that which we are implementing; his leadership skills; his experience working with a state legislature; and his ability to work with various constituencies make him the right person at this time to lead our K-12 efforts.” “During his 33 years as a professional educator, Dr. Johnson has demonstrated his strong commitment to helping each and every child succeed,” added Bush. “The Board is extremely pleased that he is coming to Mississippi.” An Associate State Superintendent of Education of the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, Johnson heads the Office of Instructional and Accountability Services.

Scope and Content The North Carolina Periodicals Index seeks to provide access to articles in North Carolina periodicals of potential interest to undergraduate students at East Carolina University, although it is expected that the index will be used by a graduate students and faculty as well. The periodicals listed below, most of which are not indexed in standard reference tools, regularly feature useful articles pertaining to the arts, social sciences, and sciences. No attempt has been made, however, to index each title exhaustively. In some cases an issue may not contain an article deemed relevant to undergraduate students' needs. The index does not include reviews of any kind. Coverage for most titles began in January, 1992, although a limited amount of retrospective indexing has been accomplished since that time. An abstract, in some cases simply a sentence that reflects the content of the article, accompanies each entry.

Real estate can be defined as lands, crops, and anything permanently affixed to the land, such as buildings and fences. Real estate also includes things normally thought of as personal property which are permanently attached to the buildings, such as light fixtures and plumbing and heating fixtures. The term "real estate" is generally used interchangeably with the term "real property".
For most people, the buying and/or selling of real estate is the most expensive undertaking they will have. It is important to understand all the steps in the entire process and the significance of each decision along the way.

    About Us
    Education
Podiatric Physicians must have an undergraduate education and must take the MCAT exam to enter an accredited School of Podiatric Medicine. The first two years of podiatric medical education are comparable in content to the first two years of an MD's or DO's education. The emphasis shifts to clinical training in the third and fourth years with hospital and clinic-based rotations in internal medicine, physical diagnosis, podiatric medicine, pathology, radiology, vascular disease, dermatology, neurology, biomechanics, physical medicine and surgery. Most graduates complete residencies in podiatric medicine and surgery of one to three years in length. Residencies are accredited by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education. Residents must complete required rotations in general medicine and surgical specialties, as well as in podiatric medicine and surgery. North Carolina licensure requires successful completion of Parts I and II of the National Boards, completion of at least one year of residency and a rigorous two-day licensing examination. Twenty-five hours of continuing medical education must be completed each year for re-licensure. Many podiatric physicians go on to become Board certified in one of these specialties: surgery, orthopedics or sports medicine.
    Mission Statement
The NCFAS is the recognized voice for the foot and ankle specialists in North Carolina. Through member services and proactive programming, it enhances the practice of podiatry in North Carolina, resulting in optimal patient care.
