About Halifax
Halifax is not only the largest city in Nova Scotia, but also the province's capital. Halifax is a city of 113,000 (with 332,000 residents in the metropolitan area, which includes Dartmouth and Bedford/Sackville). It is a large deep-water harbour that opens into the Atlantic Ocean, which the area's native Micmac Indians called "Chebucto."
Halifax was founded in 1749 and is filled with important historic sites, including the Halifax Citadel National Historic Park, the Prince of Wales Tower National Historic Park, and the York Redoubt National Historic Site. It was the major starting point for First and Second World War convoys departing for Europe. In 1917 the French steamship Mont Blanc and the Belgian steamer Imo collided, causing the biggest manmade explosion the world had seen before Hiroshima.
The city is also home to eight colleges and universities including the University of King's College, which was founded in 1789. The young students attending these colleges and the fact that Halifax is a port city, makes it an ideal place for restaurants and an exciting nightlife!

Tight Lines offers the avid birder a chance to fill in that list with a few species, and also offers a fantastic avian display that is the nature of Nova Scotia and her geography. We are a point that sticks out, we're literally "at sea", and as a result, we have many birds that are rare and hard to see in the rest of North America.

As Canada's fourth largest production centre, this province boasts a number of studios, one with four floodable sound stages; five world-class crews; casting agencies; major equipment rental houses; and a substantial pool of educated and gifted directors, producers, professional actors and talented amateurs.
Money Talk The province offers financial incentives for co-production with a Nova Scotia company, including a 30-35% tax credit on Nova Scotia labour. With the highly favourable exchange rate on the Canadian dollar, as well as water and power rates that are a fraction of those in other districts, Nova Scotia is a site worth seeing.
Shop Talk Nova Scotia's multimedia companies offer production-support and post-production services, while other businesses provide camera packages and lighting equipment, digital video and video imaging equipment, picture and sound editing, and broadcast video resources; everything that is demanded by the television and film industries' most challenging and intricate productions. Neptune Theatre and Dalhousie University's costume-design graduates provide complete costume-making, rental and consultation services; and experienced craftspeople throughout the province construct both modern and period sets and props.

Course Credit Terminology There are a number of different ways that universities illustrate the amount of credit awarded for individual courses. The most common way that universities demonstrate credit is by awarding credit in terms of semester hours of study completed. The terms semester hours and credit hours usually mean the same and are interchangeable. For purposes of clarity, the following table presents the most common illustrations of credit awarded by Nova Scotia universities. One full course One half course = 1 unit of credit
