    Since 1734 Claude Taittinger
President-Director-General Born in 1927, Claude Taittinger has devoted his entire business career to the firm founded by his father, Pierre Taittinger. Since he assumed directorship of the company in 1960, his vision and direction have been responsible for the inception and phenomenal export growth of Champagne Taittinger in the one hundred and twenty foreign markets in which the Taittinger name has been represented since the mid-1950's. Consistent with the light, delicate style of champagne authored by his father, Mr. Taittinger conceived Taittinger Comtes de Champagne, a "blanc de blancs," one hundred percent Chardonnay champagne. Following his father's death in 1965, he established the Prix Culinaire International Pierre Taittinger, an international culinary competition focusing on the marriage of classic cuisine with a lighter, contemporary style of preparation. The Prix Taittinger is now regarded as the ultimate recognition of a chef's skills. Then with his 1978 vintage, Mr. Taittinger introduced the concept of the Taittinger Collection series, uniting art and champagne in the design of a special bottle, the first of which was commissioned to Hungarian artist Victor Vasarely; up to the most current releaese the 1992 vintage adorned by Roberto Matta, Chilean abstract impressionist
