Yes, you probably think I'm crazy saying a pool party game founded most of the world we live in, but there was a real person called Marco Polo. Marco found a lot of Asia, which was not known to the rest of the world. Young Marco was born in Venice, Italy in 1252. His father, Nicolo Polo, was a sea merchant, so it's no surprise that Marco got his sea legs easily. Marco could take days at sea before he came back. Nothing could prepare him for this next journey. One day in Venice, Italy, Nicolo decided to bring Marco on his next trip to China. It took 6 years to get to their ultimate goal, China. On the way, Marco and his dad stopped at Armenia, Russia, Persia, and Macedonia. As an adult, Marco marveled at a number of different Chinese methods, such as coal used for heating, paper money, and many more. After many years away from home, Marco went back to Venice. Unfortunately, a war was going on between Genoa and Venice. So Marco joined the Venetian troops, but he got captured by Genoa's forces. While in prison, Marco entertained prisoners by telling them of his travels. One prisoner liked them so much that he wrote a book about Marco's travels called
