Send an E-Card PRESCHOOL SPORTS Unleash the athlete early by Nancy Knisley Q: What could be more fun than a preschooler running, tumbling, jumping, kicking and throwing? A: A whole bunch of preschoolers running, tumbling, jumping, kicking and throwing! Most preschoolers are naturally on the go. They enjoy exploring the limits of what their bodies can do and learning new physical skills. Does that mean that your preschooler is ready for sports? Or does that mean that your preschooler doesn't really need to be involved with a sport, since he or she is already getting plenty of exercise and learning new skills? If you think about it, you'll realize that your preschooler probably already enjoys many physical activities which, when done by older children and adults, are called "sports"running, cycling, climbing, hitting and catching a ball. The difference is that preschoolers usually don't do those activities in a sustained, planned, and organized way.
