Welcome to the FARE Network online
We want to see the 'beautiful game' played without the cancer of racism. Football is the biggest sport in the world and belongs to us all. It should be the right of every person to play, watch and discuss freely, without fear.
Unfortunately, at all levels of the game, from amateur to international, there are incidents of racism. Be it from fans, players, clubs or other football bodies, FARE believes that such behaviour, on and off the field, is unacceptable and unwanted by the majority of fans and players.
FARE aims to rid the game of racism by combining the resources of anti-racist football organisation throughout Europe. It helps to support and nurture groups and coordinates efforts on an European scale. By working together, FARE helps organisations share good practice and present a united front against racism in football.
"Unite Against Racism" Conference FARE jointly organised the high-profile "Unite Against Racism" conference with UEFA and The English FA. Click to view details of this important event.

"How can you like the feeling of hatred in your blood?
What is it you're concealing underneath that hood?
Whether its religion or the color of the skin,
No matter what the reason, can't you see that your hatred is a sin?
And I am not deceived by the prayers I hear you pray And I can't help believe that you'll not escape the Judgement Day." from "Hand Me Down Hate" by Raspberry Jam , 1993 Metro-One Records. Used with permission. Click ( here ) to download an mp3 of this song! The following story/essay briefly describes the most influential experiences I had as a child (from the age of 5 to the age of 18) that taught me to hate bigotry and racial intolerance. The names of people have been changed in order to respect their privacy.
(1) How my parents influenced my views (1970):
I was five years old when my older sister and I started saying, "Eeny meanie miny moe. Catch a nigger by his toe. If he hollers let him go. Eeny meanie miny moe." We didn't know what "nigger" meant. As far as we knew, the word was just a small part of a rhyme that we heard other kids saying. We said the rhyme in front of my parents one night.

R ace I ssues D ialogue Forum The Race Issues Dialogue Forum, founded by Tatiana Nu, is an on-line discussion group devoted to topics of racism, bringing together people of all races who want to create positive change between all racial groups. I feel that the discomfort of the topic is enough to suppress a vast potential of ideas and visions for making our world more free of discrimination. This forum is the place to get past that discomfort. The issue has many complexities, and many perspectives, but this should not stop one from opening one's mind and heart to it. I want this forum to be a place where people can share their thoughts and experiences, as well as their hopes for a better community, a better America and a better world. If these visions are not even articulated, they certainly have no hope of occurring. This forum is the place to articulate those visions. Also posted at this site will be periodic conversations, interviews and essays on a variety of race related topics. Say NO to Racism
What is racism?
What is meant by prejudice? stereotype? and discrimination? Does the Human Rights Act prohibit racial discrimination? What can I do to stop racism? ... Where else can I find out how to stop racism? What is racism?
Racism
means attitudes, practices and other factors that disadvantage people because of their race, color or ethnicity. Racism can be directed against any race, color or ethnicity.
Some examples of racism are obvious, such as graffiti, intimidation or physical violence. Racial and ethnic slurs and "jokes" are other examples. Unfortunately, they are often ignored because people do not know how to deal with them.
Other forms of racism are not obvious, such as discrimination in hiring and apartment rentals, or policies that disadvantage members of certain races, whether intentionally or not.
Racism exists at three main levels: individual, institutional and cultural.
Individual racism takes the form of individual attitudes, beliefs, values and behaviours. Racial prejudice , bigotry, belittling and jealousy are examples of racist attitudes. Examples of racist beliefs are racial

By Ian Hancock.

The Consequences of Anti-Gypsy Racism in Europe Ian Hancock Other Voices , v.2, n.1 (February 2000) Reprint of a text delivered to the Joint Seminar on Roma (Gypsies) in Europe , Warsaw, September 20-23, 1994. Originally published in The Belgrade Circle , no.1-2, 1995.
You talk about the race problem, the immigration problem, all sorts of problems. If you are liberal, you say that Black people have problems. If you are not, you say they are the problem. But the members of the new Europe have only one real problem; that problem is white people. Racism, of course, is not our problem; It is yours. We simply suffer the effects of your racism. H onored Ambassador, Mister Chairman, respected fellow delegates. I have chosen as the topic of my address before this meeting the issue of racism. Specifically, the nature and consequences of racism in eastern Europe directed at the Romani population. Racism must be recognized as a cancer which, if not checked, will lead us surely and inevitably into a catastrophic situation which has the potential to destroy Europe in a 2lst century chaos. I don't wish to be charged with hyperbole. But I believe that the points I wish to raise here cannot be made too forcefully. The move to Democracy, if it is to be successful, must incorporate all aspects of the democratic system. If the transition in that direction is only a partial one, then the system will be incomplete, and will never function properly. Frustration and resentment will remain. One part of the democratic ideal which must be given priority is the granting of basic human rights. Since 1989, the human rights record in parts of eastern Europe has been abysmal. Eastern European nations cannot simply pick and choose, selecting those aspects of democracy which appeal to them and ignoring those which don't; if the post-communist nations are to embrace democracy fully and successfully, the recognition of the equal worth of all human beings must become fundamental. The alternative can only be disaster.

100. What Is Racism? Is Bigotry And Racism Just A White Thing?
What Is racism? by Thomas Jackson. There is surely no nation in the worldthat holds racism in greater horror than does the United States.
http://www.stormfront.org/whitenat/racism.htm
What Is Racism?
The 'racist' double standard: how Whites are made to feel guilty and "hateful" for loving their own people and culture.
by Thomas Jackson
There is surely no nation in the world that holds "racism" in greater horror than does the United States. Compared to other kinds of offenses, it is thought to be somehow more reprehensible. The press and public have become so used to tales of murder, rape, robbery, and arson, that any but the most spectacular crimes are shrugged off as part of the inevitable texture of American life. "Racism" is never shrugged off. For example, when a White Georgetown Law School student reported earlier this year that black students are not as qualified as White students, it set off a booming, national controversy about "racism." If the student had merely murdered someone he would have attracted far less attention and criticism. Racism is, indeed, the national obsession. Universities are on full alert for it, newspapers and politicians denounce it, churches preach against it, America is said to be racked with it, but just what is racism?
