These weaknesses can be in one or more of the following areas: Short-term memory Long-term memory Auditory (hearing) Visual (seeing) Tactile-kinesthetic (feeling) Additionally, many students with learning disabilities (LD), particularly dyslexia, also experience ADD or ADHD, which are forms of attentional deficit. These students require a multi-sensory approach when learning to read. Although the student may have an auditory problem, for example, he or she may have strong visual and/or tactile-kinesthetic skills. LD students require that the material be presented in a specific order. Basic skills must be taught before more complex skills are taught.
