The anthrax attacks of 2001 created an immense need for the development of innovative training curriculum for the removal of anthrax from contaminated facilities. The Anthrax Awareness training provides a wealth of information about anthrax, including its characteristics and health effects, medical testing and treatment and a series of work area preparation and remediation techniques to be used by hazardous waste or asbestos abatement workers. The information and awareness of anthrax and its characteristics is also key to first responders to contaminated sites. The intent of the Anthrax Awareness training is to build awareness of how to deal with anthrax and how to prevent contamination as well as the course of treatment recommended should there be contamination.
