There are 168 miles of snowmobile trails on the Forest. Most areas are not maintained during winter months and parking is limited in areas outside of Sno-Park lots. Sno-Park areas are made available through a partnership with the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission. When using a Sno-Park lot, your vehicle must have a current Sno-Park permit displayed in the windshield. Sno-Park lots are available on the Mt. Baker and Snoqualmie Ranger Districts. Enjoy winter recreation but take time to proceed with caution and be prepared for extreme winter conditions. Harsh conditions of wind, cold, snow, or whiteout can turn an outing into a tragedy. Knowledge of the area, weather, route, and limitations of your body and equipment plus a little common sense can ensure safe and enjoyable outings.

U.S. plans immediate snowmobile ban in parks Several areas affected in Washington state Thursday, April 27, 2000 By DOUGLAS JEHL
THE NEW YORK TIMES WASHINGTON In a new effort to protect public lands, the National Park Service will impose a broad and immediate ban on the recreational use of snowmobiles at nearly all of the country's national parks, monuments and recreational areas, Interior Department officials said yesterday. The decision, to be announced in Washington today, will directly affect more than two dozen parks where snowmobiling now takes place, including Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, which has been the focus of a major battle over whether the noisy, high-powered vehicles should be permitted within the park system. Recreational snowmobiling is currently allowed in Washington state's Lake Chelan National Recreation Area, Mount Rainier National Park, North Cascade National Park, Olympic National Park, and Ross Lake National Recreation Area, according to the National Parks and Conservation Association, a private park advocacy group.

The trails have been divided into 3 categories: easy, moderate, and difficult. The trails are rated for the reasonably physically fit hiker. All mountain trails have some difficult sections. Disabled Hunting Park's Present ... Hours
Chiseled out of the state’s far northern region is Rock Cut State Park in Winnebego County. Nearby are other "rocky" landmarks - the mighty Rock River and the place where wagons once forded it, Rockford. It’s an area of rolling plains, interesting history and recreational variety. Hours Summer hours (April - October) 6:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Winter hours (November - March) 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
History
The Park's Present
Trails
The trail system at Rock Cut offers opportunities for hiking (40 miles), mountain biking(23 miles), and equestrian(14 miles) and has been completely remarked beginning in 2003. Trail users will find updated trail head/information signs at picnic areas and trail access points for trail information and regulations. Only certain trails are designated for mountain biking and equestrian use and are identified by colored trail markers. Blue trails are for mountain biking and hiking, yellow trails are for equestrian and hiking and red trails are restricted to hiking only.
Trail activities have been divided into "summer and winter" seasons to provide quality seasonal programs. The "summer program" (mountain biking and equestrian) trails are open April 15 - November 30. These regulations for mountain biking and equestrian use will be strictly enforced and violators are subject to fines.

20. National Park Service Puts The Brakes On Escalating
The net effect of this renewed enforcement effort will be the significantreduction of recreational snowmobiling in most units of the System.
