Introduction to Islam
...
Quran, News, Songs, Stories
Belief in one God , Allah in Arabic, constitutes the very foundation of Islam. There is no deity except Allah. He is indivisible and absolutely transcendent. God is the Almighty, the Creator and the Sustainer of the universe, Who is similar to nothing and nothing is comparable to Him. The Holy Quran (also written as Koran ) is the Divine Book revealed to Muhammad (peace be on him). Muslims believe that the Holy Quran is one-hundred percent word of God, sent as a guidance for those who believe in God. Prophet Muhammad was born in Makkah, present-day Saudi Arabia in 570 C.E. He is the model for humanity of all walks of life to follow until the Last Hour. God sent him as a mercy for the worlds. Prophet Muhammad ( an Arab and a descendant of Abraham) received divine revelations (The Holy Quran) over a period of 23 years in the seventh century of the Christian Era. Muslims believe that he is the last Messenger sent by God for the guidance of mankind until the Day of Judgment.

The links on this page were collected and reviewed by Sarah Berry, Information Architect, and Toby Miller, from the Department of Cinema Studies at New York University. What is Cultural Studies? Cultural studies (CS) is concerned with subjectivity and powerhow human subjects are formed and experience their lives in cultural and social space. CS blends methods and issues from economics, politics, media and communication studies, sociology, literature, education, the law, science and technology studies, anthropology, and history, with a particular focus on gender, race, class, and sexuality in everyday life. It represents, in broad terms, the commingling of textual and social theory, under the sign of a commitment to progressive social change.

It concludes with a suggestion for how this movement from page to digital display might inform the administrative changes forced upon the university by the current shortage of money."

Projects A Strong Tradition of Excellence in Jewish Education The Melton Research Center for Jewish Education, established in 1960 under the sponsorship of Samuel M. Melton of Columbus, Ohio, has the mandate of improving the quality of Jewish education throughout North America. A major project of The Melton Research Center is the preparation of classroom materials for the teaching of Hebrew language, Jewish holidays, prayer, mitzvot, Bible, Jewish history, and Jewish thought in the synagogue school. The Melton curriculum is graded according to the age and skill level of students. Each subject is designed to be integrated with other subjects so as to provide a comprehensive course of study. The goal of the curriculum is to present the basic ideas of the traditional texts in the light of contemporary scholarship and education. Over the years, Melton curriculum materials have been used in over three hundred Reform, Conservative and Orthodox congregational and day schools throughout the country.
