Initially, the salary will be established at the Bachelor's Base Level (BA-Beginning Teacher) for teachers who do not have South Carolina Certification. In the event a South Carolina Teaching Certificate is not filed in the Personnel Action Office within ninety days, salary checks will be withheld and/or substitute pay may be assigned until the appropriate credential is on file. Out-of-state teaching experience must be verified on the form included in the application packet for South Carolina Certification supplied by the South Carolina State Department of Education. Once experience has been verified with the State Department of Education, out-of-state teaching experience equivalent or comparable to teaching experience in South Carolina is recognized and endorsed as in-state teaching experience. If you currently hold a valid teaching credential from a state that has a reciprocity agreement with South Carolina and requires nationally recognized exams, you may be eligible for a South Carolina Professional Certificate. If you come from a state that does not have a reciprocity agreement with South Carolina and/or does not require a nationally recognized exam, you may be issued a one-year Temporary South Carolina Teaching Certificate. All South Carolina requirements must be met for continued employment before the one-year temporary expires. Teacher Loan Program The South Carolina Teacher Loan Program was established by the State of South Carolina through the Education Improvement Act of 1984 to entice talented and qualified students into the teaching profession. Education Entrance Exam (EEE) and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale. Entering graduate students must have at least a 2.75 grade point average on a 4.0 scale and graduate students who have completed at least one term, and must have a grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale or better; and
