SINAI Special Needs Institute is dedicated to educating children and young adults with special needs within the Jewish Community. Our Philosophy SINAI Special Needs Institute was established upon the belief that all Jews were awarded the Torah at Har Sinai. Our children with special needs are entitled to their full share in this gift today. We, as professionals, are committed to employing the finest special education techniques within a Torah setting in order to help our students achieve a level of performance commensurate with their abilities, intellect and talent. Getting to Know Us SINAI's special needs programs are designed to meet the educational, psychological and emotional needs of Jewish children and young adults. We are also a resource, offering guidance, support and information to the general public. We serve children of below to above average intelligence with different degrees of learning disability. We accept children with a wide variety of behavioral characteristics provided that our evaluation indicates that they may respond favorably to our programming. While we recognize and address the need for some children to be in self-contained settings, a major strength of our program is that many of our children are mainstreamed into regular grade level classes for a portion of the day.

Parents Engaged in Education Reform (PEER) is a national technical assistance project funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs. PEER’s purpose is to increase the participation of parents of children with disabilities and their organizations in school reform efforts. PEER Project activities are based on the premise that active participation of parents and communities is essential if the promise of school reform is to be fulfilled for all students. Through teleconferences, workshops, publications, and institutes, the PEER Project provides opportunities for parents, parent organizations, and professionals to learn from each other about school restructuring efforts occurring in states and local communities. In addition, to enhance opportunities for early literacy in reading for at-risk students, PEER is providing information and training to parent and community organizations in promising and best practices in literacy.
