powered by FreeFind Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention: The Parent Connection Two of the biggest concerns parents have when they send their sons and daughters to college are whether they will be safe, and whether they will do well academically. Both of those concerns are legitimate, and both are closely related to alcohol and other drugs, whether used by the student or by their fellow students. So parents deserve to know what schools are doing to curb alcohol and other drug use, and college administrators must be prepared to answer tough questions about their alcohol and other drug prevention policies and programs. I was an educator in my local school district for the past 15 years and the mother of two fine "exceptional" children. My daughter, Jessica was identified as gifted & talented and son, Jeremy was diagnosed with C.P. and multiple other disabilities. With these two opposites types of children, my husband and I believe that we are "blessed" with the best of both worlds. We have lived in Texas for over 20 years and we never knew or even believed that there were parents such as ourselves, who on a daily basis needed advice, questions to be answered or most of all someone to share our inner most feelings with.
As a parent and educator I have always been my children's advocate, having been with Partners Resource over the last several months, I feel as though the more educated and informed a parent can be, will always be a valuable and vital tool for all parents of children with disabilities. I believe that we as parents must persevere to each and every situation with each passing year and be able to make a difference for the years to come for all children!

We all want to be good parents, but often parenting can be difficult and exhausting.
Little hassles get out of hand. We yell, threaten, plead, cry, hit, ignore, bribe, give in. We often find ourselves saying and doing things to our children that our parents said and did to us long ago that we promised we would never repeat.
Clearly written, easy-to-read, delightfully illustrated, this book offers many practical, down to earth suggestions to prevent conflicts, to deal with conflict constructively before it escalates, and to create a closer and more loving family-A We Can Work It Out! Family.
A wonderful gift for any family who wants to develop, build, and restore loving and harmonious relationships.
