This is due in no small part to the certification regulations which went into effect on September 2, 1993 as well as the changes recently adopted by the Regents that go into effect in September 2004. This Bulletin describes those regulations which are currently in place. The purpose of this Information Bulletin is to summarize the information most commonly sought by members and local leaders. The Chronicle Fall Issue 1995 The Chronicle Issues Archive National Survey of Driver Education Teacher Preparation Scott Calahan Central Washington University In an effort to determine the status of teacher preparation, a survey was sent to all state driver education program directors. The names of the directors were obtained from a document prepared by the New Hampshire Department of Education in 1994 as a result of another survey. Forty-six of the 50 surveys were returned either by mail or phone response. State driver education program directors were asked to list the names of contact persons at each college and university within their state offering courses leading to credentials for teaching driver education. The URN Satellite System is a one-way video, two-way audio, full-motion video network, operated by the State of Utah.
