The White House of Wilmington - Lodging in Wilmington, Vermont The White House of Wilmington is a Victorian mansion that offers you elegant yet relaxed surroundings in Southern Vermont. Set on the crest of a high, rolling hill, and surrounded by towering hardwoods and formal flower gardens, it is readily obvious why the Boston Herald and New York Times selected the White House of Wilmington as “one of the ten most romantic places in the world” Our Vermont Bed and Breakfast was built as a private summer home in 1915 for wealthy lumber baron, Martin Brown. The magnificent structure, with 14 fireplaces, crafted French doors and two-storied terraces supported by soaring pillars, is as timeless and lovely as the surrounding Green Mountains. The White House of Wilmington has built its superb reputation by providing superior Southern Vermont accommodations that are exceeded in quality only by the meals prepared in it’s restaurant. The three intimate dining rooms continue the pronounced Victorian theme of the Inn, and are the perfect surroundings in which you will enjoy an evening of award-winning gourmet dining. The menu is a creative collage of classic Continental dishes. The extensive selection of appetizers and entrees are meticulously prepared to please the most demanding gourmet.

Bush and Vice President Cheney attend a National Security meeting Wednesday. WASHINGTON (CNN) The White House said Wednesday it has "reasonable and credible" information that the White House and Air Force One were targets of Tuesday's terrorist attack on the nation's capital. "We have real and credible information that the airplane that landed at the Pentagon was originally intended for the White House," White House press secretary Ari Fleischer said in a late Wednesday afternoon briefing. Fleischer also said Bush was pleased NATO had invoked "Article 5," which states that any attack on an alliance member is an attack on the alliance as a whole. "It is a message of solidarity," Fleischer said, and "indicates a unified response." He refused to quantify what that means. Ron Brown dead at 54

Web posted at: 9:25 a.m. EST From Correspondent Jeanne Meserve WASHINGTON (CNN) Commerce Department Secretary Ron Brown was on a mission to restore the war-ravaged economy of the Balkans when he died Wednesday. The 54-year-old Brown and 32 others were aboard a U.S. Air Force T-43 twin engine plane when it crashed just 1.8 miles shy of the Dubrovnik Airport runway Wednesday. Saddened family members and colleagues say they have no doubt that Brown's mission to the former Yugoslavia was a success. ( 641K QuickTime movie Harlem was home for Ron Brown. His father managed a hotel right across the street from the famed Apollo Theater But Brown spent much of his life in white environments, pushing open doors that had been shut to African-Americans. His Middlebury College roommate recalled how Brown integrated the fraternity system. "It was before the big civil rights movements where people focused on it. So we, in looking back at it, were pleased with it (the system)," Tom Meehan said. Brown was the first black partner at the Washington law firm of Patton, Boggs and Blow.

    Project Schedule
Presidential Records Act Overview When a United States President leaves office, the records of the President's administration are collected and removed from the White House offices. What happens to the tons of historical materials created by the President of the United States and the White House staff? The White House sends the materials to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), whose staff carefully processes these records according to Federal laws. Some records are Presidential records, meaning they are public records. Some records are personal, meaning they are private papers. Applying the standards for the release of Presidential records for public inspection takes time and much work by archival staff. This process is just beginning for the records created by the Clinton Administration. We at the Clinton Presidential Materials Project, part of NARA, will devote most of our efforts of the next few years to preserving, arranging, reviewing and describing the archival and museum holdings while the future Presidential library is under construction. As we process collections, archivists will create preliminary finding aids and develop information about the materials for our web site. As a start, we have posted all four versions of the Clinton White House web site, which you can search on our web site. We hope that you will enjoy exploring the webpages as they existed during President Clinton's Administration. You will find the
