Youth Volunteer Corps of King County (YVC) is a program of Camp Fire USA, engages youth ages 11-18 around King County in community service projects that are educational, fun, free, and beneficial to the community, such as tutoring, assisting the elderly, trail maintenance, mural painting, web design, event planning, and native habitat restoration. Youth learn to work as a team, learn job skills and leadership, and give back to their community, while planning, doing, and evaluating their projects. YVC offers shorter projects during the school year, on weekends and school breaks, and longer intensive projects during the summer. Volunteers for Outdoor Washington (VOW) promotes volunteer stewardship of natural resources, trails and other outdoor recreation resources throughout the State of Washington. VOW enables citizens and organizations to participate in trail and recreation development, rehabilitation projects, resource planning and education, and heritage preservation and interpretation. VOW maintains a working relationship with land management agencies to accomplish this end. The Wallingford Community Senior Center offers seniors the opportunity to maintain their independence and dignity by providing programs and services that enhance their social, physical, and mental well being. US State Government Aid The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is used to apply for most state loan, grant and scholarship programs, in addition to the federal loans and grants. When you submit the FAFSA to the US Department of Education, they forward the information on the form to the state student assistance agency. Each state has a different FAFSA submission deadline. If you submit your FAFSA by March 1, you will be in time for all state deadlines, other than Michigan. If you miss the deadline, you will be ineligible to receive state aid for the entire academic year. Procedures for applying for state prepaid tuition programs and the national guard differ from state to state. The amount of information provided on the state web sites varies from state to states. Some states provide comprehensive information about residency requirements, loan, grant, scholarship and prepaid tuition programs and other state aid programs. Others provide minimal information.
