North Carolina Licensure: Questions and Answers Who needs a license in North Carolina? All professional employees of public schools must hold a license for the subject or grade level they teach or for the professional assignment they hold. In what areas are licenses issued? Licenses are issued in administrative, supervisory, student service, and teaching areas. Teaching areas encompass birth through kindergarten, elementary (K-6), middle grades (6-9), secondary grades (9-12), special subjects (K-12), exceptional children (K-12), and vocational education. (See the complete list of individual areas below.) How do I qualify for a North Carolina license? The standard basis for license is the completion of an approved education program at an accredited college or university. Alternative Routes to Certification
The Washington State legislature recently mandated alternative pathways to teacher certification to respond to the shortage of teachers in our state. Alternative certification is not for everyone: it was designed to help professionals with relevant experience transfer into the teaching profession more quickly than through a traditional education program. A four-year degree from an accredited college or university. A Bachelor's degree is required to obtain a Washington State teaching certificate.

Our teachers are highly trained, enthusiastic people dedicated to health and wellness. We are strongly committed to the power and depth of the original Pilates Method Certification. The physical conditioning system developed by Joseph H. Pilates is a highly evolved and in depth program that should be taught by individuals who have studied the system intensely and seriously. Our fully certified teachers have fulfilled a minimum of 700 hours of active training in all apparatus and mat work, seminars, and apprentice teaching. We strive to share/inform consumers of the power of the original Pilates Method by offering apparatus and mat sessions with experienced professional teachers in a safe environment. Lesa McLaughlin , co-owner, received her certification from the Pilates studio in New York in 1995. For the past 20 years, she has taught dance, choreographed and performed as a solo artist as well as with her company throughout the US, Europe, Asia, South America and Mexico. Lesa has a BFA degree in Dance from George Mason University and is currently on the teaching faculty at Dance Place.

WASHINGTON STATE Olympia Washington State Board of Education unanimously adopted a rule aimed at preserving the language and culture of our Native American population. Culture . Hillaire , an Elder from the Lummi teacher certification pilot program begins in February 2003 and will continue through the 2005-06 school year. At the end of the 2005-06 school year , the program will be extended, modified or made permanent, as determined by the State Board of Education in consultation with the participating sovereign tribal governments. Any sovereign tribal government in the state of Washington is eligible to participate individually on a government-to-government basis in the pilot program. world views
