89. Blue Water Technical Manual - Harnesses

http://spelean.com.au/BW/TM/BWtechhar.html
HARNESSES
BlueWater manufactures a complete line of harnesses to cover the needs of all aspects of climbing and mountaineering. We offer comfortable, functional, inexpensive harnesses for entry level climbers; specially designed performance harnesses for sport, recreational and alpine climbing; as well as a harness designed specifically for women. F3t is BlueWater's latest concept in the design and manufacturing of climbing harnesses. In this process we "thermo-fuse" two layers of energy absorbing foam between two layers of fabric and then submit this layered piece to high pressure. The end result is a harness that is shaped to provide padding and support where you need it most and reduces bulk where it is not needed. All of our harnesses but the Discovery Rescue feature a full-strength belay/rappel loop (stronger than a carabiner) that is designed to be clipped into when belaying and rappelling. The Discovery Rescue has a forged D-ring for ease of clipping in. Our non-padded harnesses use our unique BlueWater Safety Buckles that have one side marked in red. When the buckle is properly fastened the red marker should be covered as the tail of webbing double-passes back through the buckle. Others of our paddeed harnesses feature the H.U.S.H. buckle which "triple-passes" for extra safety.
Harness Models
Renegade TM Perfect for all-around climbing, the Renegade is made with the F3t process. Narrow in the center of the back, the waistbelt widens in the kidney area to provide extra support while tapering to the front, allowing increase forward flexibility. Padding is thicker on the hips to provide extra comfort while hanging. A H.U.S.H. buckle, four stiff gear loops and a full strength haul loop on the back are other premier features.

Introduction
Welcome to Alaska Water Watch. AWW is the statewide umbrella organization for hands on aquatic stewardship programs. AWW's four themes are: aquatic education, monitoring, pollution prevention, and watershed rehabilitation and maintenance. The AWW stream surveys which this site supports evolved from six years of student and staff work in watersheds across Alaska. School programs and volunteers use AWW Stream Surveys to better understand and protect their aquatic resources. The AWW annual stream survey should be done once a year, preferably in the fall. This is a non-intrusive survey which focuses on the more slowly changing aspects of your watershed.

F
or many people, fishing offers the perfect combination of sport and relaxation. According to the American Sportfishing Association, some 50 million U.S. anglers contribute more than $108 billion to the economy each year. Hook a fish, not yourself
Careful casting is key to keeping hooks where they belong. Fly-, spin- and bait-fishing each have their own casting techniques, but all require an open area behind the caster. Fly casters need up to 30 feet behind them, and bait casters also need clear side space, depending on whether they're right- or left-handed. It's the caster's responsibility to make sure he or she has enough room to cast safely, but bystanders should also watch where others are casting. www.fishingclub.com Problems can also arise when an angler's cast "catches" a nearby tree, bush or root. Many people will try to snap the hook free to avoid cutting the line and losing the hook. Unfortunately, that wild "snapback" motion might cause you to hook yourself or a friend.
