The Wyoming Rifle Team is a Division I program and a varsity NCAA sport supported and administered through the Department of Military Science. The team competes under NCAA rules for international style 3-position smallbore and air rifle competition. UIT rules for Olympic Competition are used. Our matches usually consist of a combination of a full course smallbore (120 record shots, 40 shots in each position: prone, standing, and kneeling) and a 40 shot air rifle match. All team members fall under the NCAA Eligibility Rules. Each student must be a full-time undergraduate enrolled in an average of 12 credit hours per semester and a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better. As a high school graduate you must have a 20 ACT or a 960 SAT score. The NCAA rules state that an athlete has five years to complete four years of eligibility starting when the athlete first enrolls in any college or university as a full-time student. The NCAA rules allow for a shooter to "Red Shirt" one year if necessary. If you are a high school senior and plan to attend a college and participate in NCAA Rifle Competition, the first thing you need to do is register with the NCAA Clearing House. Your high school guidance counselor should have a copy of this application. This is to insure that you have met all NCAA eligibility requirements for academic progress before you enter college. If you cannot get a copy from your high school guidance office, contact me and I will see that you get one. A helpful hint: be sure to include the Clearing House as a place for your ACT or SAT scores to be sent when you fill out your applications to take these tests.

What Is It? Who Can Participate The Wyoming Regional Science Bowl competition is open to any Wyoming High School wishing to participate. Teams are made up of five students, four team players plus an alternate, and one coach. The coach can be a teacher, parent, or community volunteer. The 2003 Wyoming Regional Science Bowl will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2003, at Kelly Walsh High School in Casper. The teams compete by answering questions on scientific topics in astronomy, biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics, earth, computer and general science. The Science Bowl will be the culmination of Science Week in Casper, featuring science activities throught the community. On this Saturday, many of the venues around the area will feature special events for the families and friends of those competing in the Science Bowl. Special activities will be presented at the Casper Planetarium, the Tate Museum, the Science Education Center at the Nicolaysen Art Museum, anad the Audubon Center at Garden Creek, to name just a few! For those students participating in the Science Bowl, science exhibits, hands-on demonstrations, and brain-teaser problems are offered during the competition breaks and lunch time. Students also have the opportunity to study and strategize for the next round of competition.

Ashley of Ohio, who, as early as 1865, introduced a bill to Congress to provide a "temporary government for the territory of Wyoming." The governor this morning released his final supplemental budget request, which is due by December 1, to the Wyoming Legislature.
