Parties agree new Yugoslavia government
PODGORICA, Yugoslavia (Reuters) - Reformers backing new Yugoslav President Vojislav Kostunica signed a deal to create a federal coalition government together with two parties from the coastal republic of Montenegro.
The signing of the deal was the final formal step before the new government goes before the federal parliament for approval on Saturday. Parliament is expected to approve the government as the coalition parties have a majority in the chamber.
The Democratic Opposition of Serbia (DOS) alliance backing Kostunica is the largest group in the proposed government.
Leaders from the three parties signed the agreement at a ceremony in the Montenegrin capital Podgorica on Friday evening.
Details of the deal were not immediately available but coalition leaders have said the pact will be based on creating a modern market economy, pro-democracy reforms and a foreign policy aimed at fostering closer links with the rest of Europe.

Yugoslavia: Government Calls For Indicted War Criminals To Surrender
Belgrade, 17 April 2002 (RFE/RL) The Yugoslav government today called on all war crimes suspects indicted by the UN tribunal at The Hague to turn themselves in voluntarily within three days. The government said that after that time, the Justice Ministry will submit the indictments to Serbian and Montenegrin ministries to begin implementing a new law on war crimes suspects. Last week, Yugoslavia adopted a law on cooperating with the war crimes tribunal in The Hague. The tribunal's chief prosecutor, Carla Del Ponte, is expected to visit Belgrade tomorrow to meet the federal justice and foreign ministers. Del Ponte is in Sarajevo today as part of a regular visit to the region. She is scheduled to meet with the UN's high representative in bosnia, Austrian diplomat Wolfgang Petritsch, in Sarajevo, as well as Bosnia's foreign minister and chief prosecutor. Yugoslavia: Government Resumes Talks With Milosevic Faction
Belgrade, 23 October 2000 (RFE/RL) - Allies of Yugoslav President Vojislav Kostunica resumed talks today with followers of ousted President Slobodan Milosevic on forming a transition government for Yugoslavia. Milosevic's Socialists agreed last week to share power with the Democratic Opposition of Serbia coalition, but talks were nearly derailed by a dispute between the two factions over changes in the government. The parliament was originally set to vote Saturday on approving a list of cabinet nominations. The vote was postponed to this morning after the DOS demanded that certain Milosevic loyalists be dropped from a list of cabinet nominations. The rescheduled debate was to begin earlier this morning, but was delayed again by arguments between party managers. Today's parliament session is also expected to announce formally a date for early Serbian elections, tentatively set for 23 December. Search Newsline Magazine Reports ... Realaudio

    Bosniaks Want Yugoslavia To Survive
When in December 2000 the Democratic Opposition of Serbia achieved a convincing victory, the List for Sandzak, as a member of the DOS, won seats in the parliament and places in the government. Thus, Rasim Ljajic became a Minister for Ethnic Minorities and Communities. And although today he admits that he had some doubts about accepting that portfolio, he emphasizes that he realized that that was a chance to contribute actively to the resolution of minority issues and thereby to the solution of the constitutional-legal status of the Bosniak community in FR Yugoslavia; Ljajic talks about problems that followed him at the rallies, about identical plans for his liquidation developed in both Milosevic's and Ugljanin's kitchen, and about the attitude of Sarajevo, the SDA and Izetbegovic towards Sandzak by Senad PECANIN
    Dani, Sarajevo, Federation Bosnia-Hercegovina, B-H, July 20, 2001
DANI: Considering your political and public activities in the last 10 years, in opposition of the political goals and practice of the leading parties in the DOS coalition, did you have doubts when deciding whether to participate in the DOS and later become a minister in the federal government?

In its aggression against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has been using banned military means and weapons such as the use of cluster bombs and depleted uranium. These weapons are damaging and threatening to the life and health of the people and the consequences of their use are incomparably more inhumane and
dangerous than those of the use of conventional arms.
