She would panomine in exaggerated ways in comedic performances. Davies met newspaper tycoon, William Randolph Hearst, soon after she'd started working in movies. They fell in love and began a relationship that lasted until Hearst's death. Hearst's love for Davies and belief in her talent led him to form Cosmopolitan Pictures solely to produce starring vehicles for her.
