Roadtrip USA Number 3:
Rebecca Says:
Both of us claim to be very light sleepers, and we were curious to see
which one of us really was. But sleep would have to wait, as our
respective second winds hit us, and we chatted about this and that until
the wee hours of the morning. I'll admit to being the lesser coherent of
the two of us. And I'm still pondering what my favorite single of all time
is... I awoke at 7:03 and got up to take a shower. I could've slept later, but
waking up at 7:00 had been presented to me as a bit of a challenge. After
our respective morning rituals, we headed out in search of an IHOP. But
first we had to check out. The bill was totaled and presented to us:
$34.99 for the room, $1.50 for the phone, plus (mumble mumble mumble) channel 7, plus tax equals $50.49. Channel 7? What's channel 7? We said we hadn't watched channel 7. We found out that it was the adult channel... Nope...hadn't seen it. She removed it from the total, thus reducing the bill by $10.00. Cruised east on Grant Avenue and had breakfast. I had the Rootie Tootie Fresh and Fruity, feeling just as foolish about saying it as you probably

Door to Decision is a poem that questions our attitude toward the world in which we live. Will we continue to have the same devastating effect as our predecessors or make a decision to change.

by Robson Grant We come from a turbulent past
To an info-age moving way to fast
    The fate of these lands
Is now placed in our hands
Will we bring destruction to an end
Will we have the power to mend
    Save this fragile dreamland
Wash away our footprints in the sand Global warming is causing weather changes right before our eyes But we still blacken our skies Sunrays take less time to burn our faces But we still destroy our rain forests and just leave empty spaces The men spill out of the factories everywhere Punching their time clocks basically unaware Don’t realize what's happening to the big picture The massive devastation of the atmospheric mixture Every day go through their daily motions Waiting it out for measly promotions Distant stares and silent prayers Monday to Friday . . . say goodbye

I made this page, because I love "Becca" so much she was one of the hottest ladies on TV!! She was sexy and very funny too and she always wore an outfit that would knock my socks off! A wonderful smile and one of the most sexiest body on earth or in heaven! Not only that but she was also a great person too! Now that's a hard combo to find now a days. She was the host of a show called "Throut and Neck" on the Game (Lame) Show network. I say that because I guess they cancelled her show!!! I was so bummed out, because I just started taping her shows! I hope her show comes back soon or sometime. Her show was a great way to kill an half-hour and I miss her and her show very much! I hope she does some more stuff soon and I wish her all the best in the world and in Life too! From a big fan..Stormcat. Conference on Genetics for Health Professionals and the Public
(last updated May 2001) This grant from The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) provided partial support for a conference on the future impact of advances in genetics. "Genetics in the 21 st Century: Crisis and Opportunity" took place May 12-14, 1999, in Mesa, AZ. The 125 attendees included representatives of the Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico state health departments; county health departments; the Indian Health Service; the Apache tribe; the California State University Department of Sociology; the Sickle Cell Anemia Society; and Southwest Human Development. Presenters included state health officials, researchers, genetic counselors, and consumers. Other funding was provided by the March of Dimes, Mountain States Regional Genetic Services Network, and St. Luke's Charitable Trust. The conference covered a wide variety of topics, including the use and misuse of genetic information; access to that information and the potential for insurance or job discrimination; the benefits and limitations of genetic testing; and other social, legal, and ethical issues. A plenary panel discussed the ethical implications of genetic testing for special populations. Presentations and the panel follow: Presentations

Entry #18: Happy Chinese New Year My parents and I have been getting along surprisingly well. Let me rephrase that, we have not been fighting. Probably from their perspective I have totally forgotten about Chaz and they no longer feel that their perfect Chinese daughter is doing anything that would cause them shame or disgrace. They are totally wrong, but in a way, they're not. I mean, since I've been exchanging emails and chatting with Elvin online, there's a part of my heart that has forgotten about Chaz. (There's also a part that feels sad about the pain he is going to feel when I get the nerve to tell him that my feelings have changed.) But the part my parents totally don't have a clue about is what's going on inside my heart now. Chaz may be almost completely out of the picture, which would make them happy. But I can't help thinking that when they find out about Elvin, they are not going to feel much better. Who am I kidding? They're going to be out of their mind with worry. What kind of respectful Chinese daughter meets guys on the Internet and falls in love with them!? This one.

Family Reconciliation Services What is Family Reconciliation Services (FRS)? Family reconciliation Services is an agency that is responsible for providing casework services and counseling to families in crisis before court involvement. The first step in filing either an At-Risk Youth petition or a Child in Need of Services petition is to go to FRS for an assessment. At-Risk Youth (ARY) Petitions What is an At-Risk Youth petition? An At-Risk Youth petition is a petition filed in court by a parent that asks the court to intervene in a family situation to help the parent to maintain the care, custody, and control of a child. The parent can ask the court to order the child to do a number of things, including attending school regularly, getting counseling or attending anger management classes, and even reporting on a regular basis to an agency or a person. Who can file an ARY petition? At-Risk Youth (ARY) petitions can only be filed by a parent, a guardian, or someone with legal custody of the child. A step-parent or a parent’s "significant other" cannot file a petition alone. When can a parent file an ARY petition?

Open Fields Opens Its Doors for the 28th Year T hat's right! Open Fields School has begun its 28th school year! On the day after Labor Day Open Fields welcomed twenty students, kindergarteners through grade six, with several new faces joining the crowd of returning Open Fielders. T he year got started with a bang when the entire school went to visit the Tunbridge World's Fair in Tunbridge, VT. By far the most popular event at the fair were the pig races-made even more exciting when OF student Becca Dudenhoffer sponsored a winning pig and won a poster. The kids also enjoyed seeing the wide variety of farm animals-from oxen to baby bunny rabbits, the displays of arts and crafts, and visiting the historic Vermont village that is part of the fair. Several weeks later, some Open Fields students learned more about historic Vermont in a visit to Billings Farm, where Cindy's language arts class got to collect more information for their farm animals research project. B ack in the "classroom," Jean reports that her favorite activity this year is teaching Public Speaking and Performance ("Speech Class"). Performances so far include the classic Open Fields rendition of 'I'm a Little Teapot', which the youngest group reportedly learned in about twenty minutes and performed flawlessly for the rest of the school. The older students have so far performed 'The Princess and the Pea' and the African folktale 'The Lion and the Hyena.'

Today was Valentine's Day and Grant did not get a rose from anyone at school so that kind of made him upset but nothing to worry about. He did get a little card from some girls in his choir which he was very appreciative of. It made his day go a little better. At school he talked about how much he hated it and we all agreed. He did vey well on his math test and he got a B on his progress reports and he felt bad because we all got D's and F's and he thought he was the reason we got those grades because he is always disturbing class. He made it through school safe and tomorrow will be another day.

Today was a pretty good day for Grant at school. It was pretty much an average day for him. The good thing is that he started work at Wendy's today, the resturaunt. He had orientation today from 3-6p.m. He was very excited, he is glad he will be making money again because he use to work ay Krogers which is a grocery store and he was a bagger and he also got the karts and he quit because it just wasn't worth the pay. I am glad Grant got the job at Wendy's thanks to his choir/corale friend Chris Vanhorn who works there also and helped him get the job. I can't wait to see him working there.
