John Fitzgerald Kennedy, Jr. May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand. Though nothing can bring back the hour
Of splendour in the grass, of glory in the flower;
We will grieve not, rather find
Strength in what remains behind. When he shall die, Take him and cut him out in little stars.
And he will make the face of heaven so fine,
That all the world will be in love with night, And pay no worship to the garish sun! William Shakespeare The Legacy of Camelot Dies Today John John America's Prince Nov. 25, 1960 ~ July 16, 1999 This Saturday morning I awoke at 8:30 and turned on the tv and my heart dropped out of my chest. The plane of JFK, Jr. is missing and no one knows where John John is. Burned into America's mind eye is a small boy saluting his fallen father, and now that image is even more harsh to bare. I thought, not that one, he's the good one!

John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born in Brookline, Mass., on May 29, 1917. His father, Joseph P. Kennedy, was ambassador to Great Britain from 1937 to 1940. Kennedy was graduated from Harvard University in 1940 and joined the navy the next year. He became skipper of a PT boat that was sunk in the Pacific by a Japanese destroyer. Although given up for lost, he swam to a safe island, towing an injured enlisted man. After recovering from a war-aggravated spinal injury, Kennedy entered politics in 1946 and was elected to Congress. In 1952, he ran against Sen. Henry Cabot Lodge, Jr., of Massachusetts, and won. Kennedy was married on Sept. 12, 1953, to Jacqueline Lee Bouvier, by whom he had three children: Caroline, John Fitzgerald, Jr. (died in a 1999 plane crash), and Patrick Bouvier (died in infancy).

John F. Kennedy Jr. Memorial Only hours after a bust of his father, President John F. Kennedy was unveiled in tribute to the 30th Anniversary of Apollo 11, the plane carrying John F. Kennedy Jr, his wife, Carolyn Bessette and her sister, Lauren Bessette was reporting missing.
For those of us who remember the tragic death of his father, the death of his namesake is too painful to conceive.
When John Kennedy was killed, our nation lost it's innocence and it's way. When Bobby died, our last hope of reconciliationdied with him. And now with John Jr, what might be will never be known. In the days ahead we must pray for our country in hopes that one day the dream will come alive once more.

She kept notecards for each of them in a small wooden file box and made a point of writing down everything from a doctor’s visit to the shoe size they had at a particular age. John Fitzgerald Kennedy was named in honor of Rose’s father, John Francis Fitzgerald the popular Boston Mayor who everybody knew as Honey Fitz. Before long, family and friends called this small blue-eyed baby, Jack. Jack was not a very healthy baby and on his notecard Rose also recorded the childhood diseases he suffered from : ‘whooping cough, measles, chicken pox’. On February 20, 1920 when Jack was not yet three years old, he became sick with scarlet fever, a highly contagious and potentially life-threatening disease. His father

When I think of the Kennedys of Massachusetts, I think of their long legacy of strength and faith, love of family, and commitment to helping others less fortunate. The Kennedys are the products of two amazing Irish families, the Kennedys and the Fitzgeralds. Thomas Fitzgerald and Patrick Kennedy both migrated to Boston from Wexford County in Ireland during the potato famine of 1840. Fitzgerald married Rose Mary Murray, whose family had also migrated to Boston from Wexford County. Kennedy married Bridget Murphy. The survival of these ancestors in the new land meant endless hours of backbreaking labor, poverty, tenements, and early death. The Fitzgeralds both died in their thirties, leaving behind nine children and little money. Kennedy died at the age of thirty-five and left behind his wife and four children. John F "Honey Fitz" Fitzgerald, the third born, had to leave Harvard Medical School, where he had been given a scholarship, in order to help care for his brothers and sisters. He and the family survived and he soon entered ward politics. By 1895 he had run successfully for Congress, and after serving two terms, became mayor of Boston in 1906. Patrick J "PJ" Kennedy, the youngest of the four Kennedy children, didn't have the same opportunities Fitzgerald did. He helped his mother in the store she managed, worked around the waterfront, and later became a stevedore. He never finished grade school. But Kennedy had a head for business. He opened a neighborhood bar on his scrimped savings, built his business into an "empire" of neighborhood saloons, entered the coal business later on, followed by wholesale liquor, and finally banking.

    Inaugural Address
Quick Facts The Presidents GME Contents JOHN F. KENNEDY
    Biography

John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the 35th PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES States (1961-63), was, at the age of 43, the youngest man and the first Roman Catholic ever elected to the presidency. Rich, handsome, elegant, and articulate, he aroused great admiration at home and abroad. His assassination in Dallas, Tex., in November 1963 provoked outrage and widespread mourning. His term of office as president was too short, however, to permit safe judgments about his place in history. Early Life Kennedy was born in Brookline, Mass., on May 29, 1917, a descendant of Irish Catholics who had immigrated to America in the 19th century. His father, Joseph P. Kennedy, was a combative businessman who became a multimillionaire, head of the Securities and Exchange Commission, and ambassador to Great Britain. He and his wife, Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy, had the highest ambitions for their nine children, of whom John was the second son. Kennedy graduated from Choate School in Wallingford, Conn., briefly attended Princeton University, and then entered Harvard University in 1936. At Harvard he wrote an honors thesis on British foreign policies in the 1930s; it was published in 1940, the year he graduated, under the title Why England Slept. In 1941, shortly before the United States entered World War II, Kennedy joined the U.S. Navy. While on active duty in the Pacific in 1943, the boat he commandedPT 109was sunk by the Japanese. Kennedy performed heroically in rescuing his crew, but he aggravated an old back injury and contracted malaria. He was discharged in early 1945.
